View Full Version : Peak RPM for Dyno tune?

I'm finally getting the car dyno tuned tomorrow. I need to know where I should have the RPM stop when they are doing the testing. I used to write 7,000 was okay, but I know the peak HP is around 5,000 or so. What should I write it off as tomorrow?

What RPM is the peak anyway?

your peak hp is 5000rpm? My car is making power as long as it is reving and the blower is making more boost. My max hp is where the the rev limit kicks in. I had assumed all Centri blowers would be like that unless the blower is maxed

If you have to ask, let the Dyno Tuner make the decision for you.

6200-6500?

That's probably about where the power curve will peak out. I'd say about 6800 would be max rpm to pull on the dyno, just to make sure the power curve is falling off.

My power never fell off, we pulled the plug @ 6500, probably would have made power to 7k.

I have to write it down and sign it first... as you know.

I don't know how that happens. A few people have said their car kept pulling to 7k. I've had several setups, including a ProCharger and stock engine, ProCharger and built engine (cams, porting, etc), and a Whipple with built engine (cams, etc). I always start running out of steam around 6200-6500, so very few of my dyno pulls go over 6800 even though the engine is built to stay together at 8k.

I told him 6300 Dom, the car quit making power right before that anyways.

Not a clue, tuner said he didn't see it very often either. Maybe you can clue me in........

No dyno tune was made. I'll post why in a few minutes.
