My front tires are balding in the corners closest to the engine block. Last year I took the car to Pepboys to get an alignment because my old tires got destroyed the same way. I brought in tires I bought outside of the store along with Carfixer specs. They said they didn't need the specs, but I gave them to them anyway.

Now I have the same issue of needing a new alignment and new front tires. I believe they will give me an alignment, but what about the tires they ruined for me? Being that I brought my own in and didn't buy them new, this is going to be a little difficult if I want them replaced. Still they ruined the tires because they didn't follow the spec? I would have no problem with getting another set of used tires as long as they are good.

What to do what to say?

If the tires are wearing on the inside edge, doesn't sound like they used carfixer's specs. I'd try another alignment place, and make sure they do it right this time.

Why did you go to pep boys? haha

I would take it to a tire shop. I have dealt with my tire shop and they are great about it. Will set the car to the spec and explain everything to me. I would not bring my car to a pep boys... I saw the guys working at the one near me and said NOPE!

Ive had 5 marauders...not one ever aligned to Carfixer's specs and not one of those 5 cars ever has tire wear on the inside.

I get the idea to go somewhere else, but what about the tires they ruined? I guess I have to go in there and tell them what they did. I would like they to fix what they broke, but since I didn't buy the front tires new it's going to be difficult to prove the age.

I went to Firestone originally, but they couldn't do it. They said the piping for the supercharger was in the way, plus they didn't have a lazor to do it with. They said I could go out to the suburbs to another shop and they would do it. "Nope. I'm not driving 20 miles for that. Here was your chance." I said. I offered to take the pipes off while the car was on the lift and nope, they didn't allow customers to be in the garage. I told them if I fell down I wouldn't care and would sign something if they wanted me too. Nope cannot be done, okay I'm gone. Pepboys is down the street. Bye.

Been there tried that.

How many miles have you put on each car?

DITTO! I can't keep tires unless done to carfixer's spec... When I got in my accident the body shop must have aligned to another spec, because they were getting eaten up on the inside, so when I had my rears replaced I had them do carfixer's spec and wouldn't you know it, it went away!

Pepboys is going to laugh at you if you ask for new tires, so dont waste your breath.

I get my Marauders aligned at WilRae in Bridgeview. (around 95th and Harlem)

As I stated earlier, I'd be fine with another set of used. It'll be a lotta fun finding another set of used fronts for $25 a piece. That was a lucky day!

Its going to come out of your pocket, dont even ask them to compensate you.

Pep boys won't give you jack, unless you find a manager there who is just reeaaaaally into customer service. I wouldn't hold my breath though, sucks.

Actually I might be the lucky one. I'll deal with this after my springs and shocks are changed. I think I have that six month free alignment adjustment service. Updates as they come about.

Wow! I've heard of others having the same luck, but not with 5 cars in a row, that's great.

My DTR ate front tires like crazy, wore out two sets in less than than 30K, found out about carfixer's specs right before it got wrecked, so never did anything with it.

My DBP was realigned at the dealership during a service call, frdwrnch dialed in carfixer's specs, and to date no wear issues with the fronts.

I wanted my allignment to Carfixers, the place I went to gave me the "we don't need it" line. I explained why, handed him the sheet. When I picked up the car, I scooted under and saw the flags were still there. Went back in, talked to the owner (a friend) and had it done right, right there (< let Bawazir try to decipher that). No probs since and I too ate the inners on the previous set. As for Zack's luck............some of us are just blessed. :2thumbs:

Don't even think of getting an alignment untill after the new springs and shocks are installed.

My car NEVER ate front tires untill I lowered it...

Make sure to get print outs with your name or car on them with before and after specs.
If they can't/won't do it, find another shop...

My front tires tend to wear on the outsides (probably from cornering so hard).
I have gotten about 30-36000 miles on each of the last 2 sets.

It occurred to me this could be a suspension problem. I have had the same shocks and springs for nearly 160K miles. I think it's my fault and I'd hate to admit it.

Most douche bags don't even know how to change the specs on the alignment machine. They just select which car it is and do it according to whatever is stored in the computer.

Gotta get it done at a good shop that knows what they're doing.

I'll be replacing my 3rd set of front tires sometime soon. I think I've gotten probably 20-25k miles out of each set since I ran winter tires from November to March the past few years.
Something else to get you to do is the CarFixer spec alignment on mine. lol
