I decided to make a run on these after all. Baffled 12oz custom catch cans that have been tested and have been proven to keep your intake track clean from oil blow by coming from the PCV system. The can is billet aluminum, has a drain plug and a visible level indicator. The inside of the can contains a baffle that can be cleaned, the lid is removable for easy access. This is a must have in both NA and SC applications. Can's will be $105.00 shipped plus 3% paypal fees. :burnout:
Where does the drivers side hose go?

Those things are great and area big hit with VWs especially the Pre-99 years.

On a NA MM it stays on the CAI. This goes between the PCV and Intake

You cant be serious....
I would think most of the oil would come from the drivers side which has a huge gaping hole in the valve cover.

The drivers side is the inlet the passenger side is the outlet. The oil from what i've found come's from the PCV side, the drivers side hose is mostly clean and free of oil on my MM

It's kind of close to even from what I have found on my own Marauder when I have taken the plenum off. There is a build up around the throttle and a build up on the PCV side as well that seemed to be pretty even in nature.
So I guess in retrospect it would be a good idea to have one on each side of the engine.

I would agree!
Not bashing your efforts musclemerc, but if you are gonna add a fancy catch can, both sides should be tied into it.

^^Would'nt that mean you would have build up in the CAI duct? The DS vent goes from the cam cover to the CAI

I dont have enough knowledge, or the patience to deal with PCV systems, thats why I run breathers. :D
All Cobras with Catch can systems have both sides hooked up, FWIW

The only problem I see with both running into one would be the amount of oil being pumped into the 1 can and you would have to keep a closer eye on it to make sure it did not fill up too fast and pump a lot more oil into the intake once that happens.
It's nice that it has an eye glass that shows the level but there are a lot of guys that do not pay as much attention to things as some of the others do.
BTW musclemerc how easy is it to empty the can out with the mounting set up?
personaly I already told you I am interested in the can set up you made so no matter what you will have a sale with me.

The only way I can see that working is if there was 2 cans. The inlet would have to have a breather on top. It's kinda hard to make one can for in/out and still be a closed PCV set-up

There is a drain plug on the bottom.

Yep, the Cobra cans do have a breather on top, which I guess defeats the purpose.
PCV FTL,

With a breather the gas build up can not be recuirculated into the combustion chamber so the excess emmitions would just be vented out in the atmospher which is what they were trying to avoid in the first place due to EPA guidlines.
Less work for the converters to handle would be the change with it venting out.
If an inspection station wanted to be pricks they could fail you for it venting outside the engine.

ok what the hell do i need to do to:
A: keep the oil outa my intake?
B: keep it from getting all over my engine?
C: not blow up my car?
this pcv crap confuses me

Nice looking PCV trap (catch can), if I didn't already have my current setup I'd certainly be in for one.
My PCV system is setup for reverse-flow and the PCV valve side is fully functional. The inlet side which connects to the CAI inlet tube is clean. It has an open hose with no baffles whatsoever. I don't know where the idea comes from that a trap is needed on both sides.

So I have to ask for clarity doe's any know how a 03 Cobra pcv set up routes? Which VC is the inlet and which is the outlet?

I don't know specificly how it is set up on the Cobra but usualy the non PVC side does both in and out freely as needed and the PCV side is an outlet only and why it goes into the intake where there is constant vacume and puts the gases back into the cumbustion chamber.

I'm specificaslly looking for a SC application. Is the PVC side still the out? Or is the DS the out?

The PCV valve is supose to stop air from being sucked in past it and only allow air pressure out of the valve cover.

The inlet is on the passenger's side. It is a hose that connects to the air inlet tube after the MAF and before the TB. On the Marauder's stock setup this is on the driver's side. The inlet can allow air to go both ways, but it should only allow air to go into the valve cover and crankcase.
The outlet is on the driver's side. It has a PCV valve which is different from the Marauder PCV valve. The Cobra PCV valve seals much better to prevent backflow when compared to the Marauder PCV valve. The Cobra intake manifold has a fitting on the bottom as well as a fitting on the intake plenum between the throttle body and the blower inlet. The PCV valve is connected to a T in the hose that goes between these two manifold fittings. In practical use, I suppose the one in the plenum should work ok with the one in the bottom plugged off.
Functionally, under idle and low throttle openings a vacuum is pulled by the intake manifold which pulls air from the PCV valve, which came from the driver's valve cover, which came from the crankcase, which came from the passenger's valve cover, which came from the hose, which came from the CAI inlet tube. Under boost, if the PCV hoses are connected the factory correct Cobra way, the positive air pressure from the intake manifold will close the PCV valve. Any air that back-flows out the inlet tube is due to blow-by. With a non-supercharged setup or if the Cobra fitting under the manifold is plugged off, the lack of vacuum on the PCV valve will allow gravity to close it. Likewise, air that back-flows out the inlet tube is due to blow-by.
So if a car is getting a lot of oil buildup on the inlet side, it probably has excessive blow-by or a plugged (or disconnected) PCV system.

^^^ Thank's again Brian that's just what I was looking for!!!
In light of this info there alot of new eaton swap guy's that are'nt running a closed PCV system if there just plugging all the vacume lines on the intake. Surprised Abdull is the only one with fume complaint.
So Fordnut your obviously running a closed pcv system?

This is how Bob did my PCV set up, E0znmYCxl5o, i dont smell fumes i just feel dezzy after driving it, really dont know what it is, am thinking is my A/C freon
Let me know about my pcv set up,
Thanx

Yes. I added a crankcase pump too, so my setup is pretty unique. There's a writeup on it somewhere on here.
