Teksid block is usually $300 + shipping in the same condition. You have no knowledge of mileage on the motor or the driving conditions, or how carefully it was disassembled.
Just FYI, '93-'98 Lincoln MarkVIIIs, and '96-'98/99 and some '01 Cobra Mustangs also got the Teksid block from the factory.
Corral, SVTP or modfords is a great place to start.
Good luck!
I have one and am happy with it FWIW
Not a bad price, but you have to find out the bore and such.
If you want to build one you are better off getting one out of a car and send to a modular machine shop.
I have one bored .020 available that I did a repair to on the tab where the rubber cover goes (driver's side 'starter' position.).
I need to clear out some of this stuff to make room to swap my motor.

Also-
Be aware that the aluminum Continental block is FWD and will not bolt up to a RWD trans. I've heard of people thinking they were getting a Teksid, only to have a Conti block arrive at their door.
-just FYI

That's what I was thinking. If he decides to go withincreased boost, swapping out the OEM pistons and rings in the stock block prolly makes the most sense, doesn't it?

Pretty much the cheapest way to go.

Unless he plans on making some serious power or adding a big shot of NOS, the lower end should hold up, correct?

I know I have done some things to my car that were not exactly "necessary", I'm betting others here have too?

Rods and pistons are a must for safe 500 rwhp, but the crank is good for 600rwhp no problem. Plus it is lighter and you do not need to change the flex plate.

exactly, ive seen stock blocks go over 1000hp. i really dont get where this "the block is weak" comes from

Probably from all the pics of the holes the piss poor rods made on the way out. :)
But those would go through a teksid or the new aluminum just as easily.
Why are you looking for a block???

Nobody said WAP blocks are weak.
Only people I know who diss the Teksid blocks are those that don't have one.
lol
Strongest stock modular aluminum block.
And they're not making any more of them.
Can't blame someone for wanting one if they can get it cheaply enough.
If you're going to build it anyways, what's the harm?

not saying there is any harm, id just spend the money else where. i have no desire to pay money for something that isnt really needed.

All I know is the thread asked if $450 is a good price on a Teksid block.
I provided the OP with information regarding his request.
