Where is the best place to tap into to get a signal for the water temp? I tried via the wiring diagrams the sensors where the cross over tubes meet the block, but one wire gave the reading off the charts on the gauge, the other wire I do not think is really giving a reading at all - and now I have a P1289 code from it.
Thanks!

I know there used to be a place that made a temp sender that threaded into the hole where the crossover cap goes, replacing the cap.
My buddy had one, I'll have to check and see where he got it.

If you are N/A you can use a tapped port in block that is in the intake valley.
But, you have to pull the intake to do that. It does allow you to keep the OEM temperature gauge functional.

When I get a chance to shoot some of the block in my basement...I hooked up my Autometer water temperature sender in that location and kept my OEM gauge functional.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the information. Its a NA motor, so the intake option could work - I remember seeing a thread about the crossover sender that threaded in that could work as well.
Thinking about it, would it be possible to use a t adapter on one of the stock sensors, thereby having the autometer sender in one and the OEM sensor in the other port?
That is if, they make one that size.

I didn't realize that the WAP blocks had coolant running through there, other than the return tube from the heater core?
Do you guys have a CHT sensor?

Correction, I just remembered that when I had my crate engine built it was based off of a Mercury Mountaineer aluminum block, which was supposed to be a stronger block. (I couldn't get my hands on a TEKSID at the time)
