So Sunday since it was my birthday I decided to go get my Marauder washed. (They do an excellent job and it saves my back). I notice the guy infront of me did a couple of double takes towards me as he got out of his car. So as I am sitting on a bench up front waiting for my car. The guy asked me if I owned the Marauder. Why yes I do. He went on to tell me how much he really loves them and really wants one. He then went on to tell me how much he regrets buying his Camry and should have bought a MM. I laughed and told him he should have. Just then one of the guys wiping down a brand new $100,000 Mercedes turns and tells me that my car is the one he looks forward to seeing. He then told me how he would rather have a MM over that overly priced Mercedes. And I agreed with him too on that. Finally. Its been a long time since I had a compliment. I was begining to think I was driving a red Grand Marquis:alone:
So ha ha. There you go Black, Blue, and Silvers!! See we DTR's are liked too!!:banana2:

I only occasionally get complimented on my car, and it directly correlates to if the car is flawlessly clean or not.
I think people are more often pissed at how loud the car is than they are impressed or stoked to see such a rare car.

Yeah. I think a lot of people think I went out and put a loud exhaust and shinny rims on a Grand Marquis. Stupid people.

Happy Birthday Joe! With that said, that guy was my uncle and he called me telling me he felt sorry for this dude in a Red Marauder earlier in the day, some guy named Joe. Probably just a coincidence??

I get compliments all the time. Got 2 today: one in the parking lot as I went into an auto parts shop, and the other while I was at a gas pump. That guy was filling up 3 pumps over - stopped what he was doing and came over to talk about Panthers in general and Marauders in particular. He had a 2001 "fleet" CV in pretty good shape.
It's nice to talk with people who appreciate these cars. Sometimes I get the feeling that some people are hesitant to approach due to the a-hole factor with other special-interest cars. But every Marauder owner I've talked to has been very open and friendly.
:D
He felt sorry for you. :surprise:Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday Joe, I'm so sorry you don't get more compliments. It must be tough. In a DTR people Think your just another Grand Marquis. That's rough, but at least you're a legend in your own mind. You can have peace of mind knowing that you really do have a Marauder, even if it is a DTR. DTR's are just kind of...well they are like the red-headed step child.
Of course I don't even have that, All I have is a Stang. Well and the Daily Beast Crown Vic L/X (Although at least I was smart enough to get that in Black)

My black can be filthy and I still get compliment on her. I noticed that the cleaner she is, the more compliments I get... I never get compliments when I have the winter wheels on it though... They think it is a grandmarquis like those DTR marauders

That reminds me of the time similiar to BurpyTurtles when I was getting gas at Costco and the guy from fuel truck refilling the underground tank came up to me and asked if my car was the Marauder. I said yes, and he went on talking about how he test drove a red one way back when.

And there was another time that a guy at a gas station in Gilroy came up to me and said that he worked for Ford on the assembly line or something way back when and he liked this speciality limited vehicle the Marauder. He wanted to buy it but I said no.

Guy came to the door on Saturday trying to fertilize people's yards in the neighborhood and he came to my door and first thing he said was "is that your marauder? It's a marauder right?" (Car was backed in.) I said yes and yes and he said man I wanted one of those so bad, but bought a mustang instead because of the gas prices at the time. I told him I wanted a mustang, but wanted to be unique so I bought the marauder instead and he was loving it.

Happy birthday. I too celebrated a birthday on the 10th. I also use to be a Benz owner but deep down inside an American muscle car guy. So it was bye-bye to the Benz and into the Marauder. Loving every minute!

All kidding aside, your car Joe, as well as Mikes, and reba (I miss seeing his pics) are some very fine examples!

Happy Birthday. I'm trying to decide if your compliment falls in the "Even a blind squirrel can find an acorn every once and a while" or a pity compliment like "Yes, TimmAy, your drawing looks exactly like moose :shake:" category.

A few months back I was dropping my Dad off at Love Field here in Dallas and as I was unloading the bags from the trunk a Southwest airline pilot waiting on the sidewalk started talking to me about my car, telling me he wished he owned one ect... My Dad thought that was pretty cool and it did bring a smile to my face.

I haven't received too many out of the blue compliments but recently I was walking around my local neighborhood shopping center parking lot when a real young guy (early 20s) comes out of the GNC store (he works there) and starts talking about my car. He knew all about Marauders and had seen my car many times driving through the lot - I might visit that center once a week. He was very complimentary and wanted one real bad. Nice to see the young guys appreciating the big Merc.
