Finally got the MM out of the garage for winter storage and it hit the road for the first time yesterday. It's nice to be back. October comes way too soon.....

Anyway... it's been almost two years since I bought the car, and the ESP warranty is running out fast, so the car is going into the shop this Friday for an inspection and a little TLC.... OLF, Coolant change, and one big inspection.

I'm going to ask them to check the engine, tranny and diff for leaks, check the front end, check the brakes, check the rack and power steering for leaks, and check the front suspension.

I'm also going to have them check the insulation around the cats I think there's a TSB for this on P71s. Anyone recall the number? I also want them to check the rear axles and bearings. I think there's a TSB for this on P71s too. Again, anyone recall the number?

Can anyone else suggest anything for the Dealer to check out that's a common problem with these cars? My car has 46,000 miles on it or so, if that's useful for the suggestion box!

Thanks for everyone's thoughts in advance!

You do realize your ESP won't cover check up's? Only repairs for broken items covered by the policy

Of course. I just want to make sure everything's as it should be before I loose the warranty.,

My 100,000mi will hopefully be up this year so I can build my SC kit. I've been waiting to get SC but did'nt want to screw up my ESP

Here is my suggestion. Have them replace the rear ebrake assy. To do both sides was around $300. To do the job they'll pull the axles, then they can look and see if any problems exist. My LM dealer did this. When they did they found my carrier was bad. Then I paid the $100 deduct. They installed new axles, bearings, seals, brand new carrier assy with spider gears and clutches. Plus I got a free Ford Focus for 5 days. ESP rules...

For sure I want the rear end checked. How many miles on your car when you had to get your diff fixed?

Babbage....nice call on the getting the axles checked. I gave them the TSB number, and asked dealer to check this out. Sure enough....needs a rear axle and bearing and we'll see if there's any carrier issues too. I have to bring the car back on Monday because they couldn't finish everthing on Friday. I'll keep you posted as to how everthing works out. Thanks to everyone who replied.

Well, she's all done. The dealer put kit 3W1Z-4A109-AA into the rear axles which looks like new bearings, axles and seals, so it's nice to know I won't have to deal with this issue in the future. They also found, of all things, that the hazard flasher didn't work properly, so they replaced the whole multifunction switch. So, a little bit under $600.00 for everything including the inspection plus my little add-ons, the warranty deductable, OLF, Coolant flush, fuel filter, air filter, lube locks, latches and wetherstipping, and a brake service. I figure I got away not too badly.
