View Full Version : Keeps running rich. What to do? P1152 and P1132

I have been running engine codes P1152 and P1132 for a while and I can never get them to go away. Just recently I was told I do not need a dyno tune, just a changed in the oxygen censors. I changed them last year, but didn't know there was a difference from the front ones and the back ones.

So I bought 2 new in the package Ford O2 censors and installed them. The car went up to 14mpg on the highway from the horrible 11 it was getting on the highway. Don't ask about city. :mad2:

I honestly don't care too much about the gas mileage because I know what I got myself into with a car exceeding 500HP to the crank. I'd like it to get back up to 19mpg, but above all I wanna get the Check Engine light off once and for all. Plus getting the car to run proper would be nice.

When I went over to get a dyno tune last week it was explained to me the tune is fine. When the O2s kick in after 30 seconds of idol (in park) the car begins to run rich. Same with reving it. I was showed this on a computer. The way to fix this was to change the censors. I did it and now I still have this issue.

What should I check? I'm really starting to lose it. Nothing works! :mad2:

Dyno tune, now that the o2 sensors are the correct ones. Before the sensors were replaced a tune wouldn't have helped.

Do oxygen censors bleep out breathing air?

So now it needs a dyno tune because the O2s didn't fix it? Dang......

It needed a dyno tune before but at the time it would not have fixed it because the wrong sensors were on the car.

I bet the MAF is covered in oil again.

I bet the MAF is covered in oil again.

Shouldn't be. I have checked it weekly and it looks fine. No oil has gotten back in the piping at all. It's worth checking, cleaning and resetting again I suppose.

Fordnut is correct you need a tune. Lack of switching due to a sensor trying to adjust for an overlean condition.

Dom.... buy like a Ford Focus, keep it stock, and just drive it normal

Just wondering, is this a blow thru or draw thru MAF setup? If it's draw-thru the only way I see oiling the sensor is over-oiling the air filter. If blow-thru it could also be blown seals in the blower or un-cleaned deposits in the intercooler and tubing that wasn't adequately cleaned out the last time.

The solution is to never, ever, ever do any maintenance or repairs to your car. Do not pick up a wrench or a screw driver. Do not even think about it.

HEY!

Listen up. Let's think about something here. I am 24 years old and new to actually working on a performance car. You have the experience even if age isn't really a factor. By the sounds of it anyone close to my age has been working on their cars with their daddys at a young age or took a class and decided to devote their life to it. Not me. I never took a class and I wasn't even able to change my oil till 18 when I was away from mommy and daddy.

Now let's look at those of you with a 12 second car... YOU DON'T DRIVE IT EVERYDAY! I looked at my records recently and I put 12,000 miles on my car in the past five months. How many of you can say that? Probably those that are N/A and maybe one or two other forced induction Marauders.

Do you know what that means? I am going to have a problem or two no matter what. If I had taken the automotive classes, if I was working on cars before I was a teenager, I would probably not need to ask for anything. Even then we have concluded this car needs another tune. I cannot do anything about it because I lack a $20,000 dyno and pretty much all computer knowledge, let alone how to tune an engine.

So if you wanna help please do. Don't waste my time. I seem to enjoy the car no matter what. It sees all weather all times of the year, track time, cruising time and yes road racing time. If you all treated your cars the way I did and had as much experience under the hood that I do, you would be in the same shoes. Heck, I haven't blown up any engine and some of you have had the bad luck of blowing one up without any mods.

My butthurts because of the finger that went up my butt last night. I told my GF to trim her nails, but no. Now she has a problem too and tells everyone what's under her hails is from working on the car with me.... it's not completely true.

It's no mystery.

One word...........Kerosene.

The number one problem with that problem is everyone's lack of knowledge for what actually happened as a result. THE ENGINE WAS FINE. New plugs and fuel filter and it went faster. The engine was only replaced because I didn't wanna put a blower on a 100K engine.

I'll be having to correct people on this as long as I post... :shake:

I'll admit that my Dad fostered my interest in cars by allowing me to watch, and then help him work on the family's cars as a youngster. That doesn't mean that I wouldn't have learned stuff on my own.

So what if some of us don't drive our Marauders daily?? Do we earn a 'Daily Driver' badge or something??
I'm not in a contest to see how many miles I can put on my Marauder!
Ever heard of a 'beater' car? How about my $900 '89 5.0 CV (Thanks Rich!)
I drive my Marauder on the street, I drive it to CAM Meets, I drive it to shows and I drive it to the track...just not every day.

Do you know what that means? I am going to have a problem or two no matter what. If I had taken the automotive classes, if I was working on cars before I was a teenager, I would probably not need to ask for anything. Even then we have concluded this car needs another tune. I don't think that any of us own a chassis dyno Dom...but that doesn't stop us from paying for proper dyno tunes.

So if you wanna help please do. Don't waste my time. I seem to enjoy the car no matter what. It sees all weather all times of the year, track time, cruising time and yes road racing time. Thank goodness I don't treat mine like you do yours.!
Drive it hard...heck yes! Race it...OH YEAH! Know how to fix it and do proper & regular maintenance...Absolutely!

Hope that you can figure out what's wrong with the rich condition.

That's no beater. That's sweet, but you have the wrong wheels. Ok it's a beater.

See you don't drive your's all the time.

You DD badge is earned my miles. Like ranks. If you have 94K miles on it that's the average for a 8 year old car. If you have that mileage you have earned Daily Driver status. :P

Joe Walsh, I think Boxes were MUCH better looking than Aeros, although I think Whales look the best. That's a really nice looking car and for $1250 it was a steal.

Paul said it right, you gotta know how to fix your ride. Driving it hard is fun, and when I was your age, the thing to do. I had to race and beat on the car everyday. BUT, you gotta pay to play. If you don't have the money, you gotta learn how to do it yourself. The Internet is does have some useful information, not much bit it can tell you how to fix your broken ride.

What I don't understand is why you are always so defensive?

As for DD status, your logic is flawed. I know folks who drive their car everyday, but their 10 year old car only has 40k on it. DD does not mean 94k miles on a 6 year old car. I consider my Marauder a DD but I have only put ~8k mikes on it in 6 months.

Relax enjoy the car. Learn to fix stuff, by research and not only asking questions about front tires wearing out or running rich. This website has a ton of useful info to help you with those kind of questions, just takes time to read through it. You may have the response that you do not have time to rsearch, but have you looked at the number of new threads you made recently?

My thoughts, flame on.
Anthony

For our grammer and spelling police, I apolize for any in this response -- responding via phone.

That's nice. Wing windows rule!
Actually, if I could have found a nice "box" Vic or LTD, I wouldn't have a Marauder today. Sadly, evey one I looked at was beat to s**t. Something about those cars, they always seem to end up in the hands of someone who just doesn't care. When you do find one that was nicely driven and maintained by an older person, it seems like it's always brown or beige.

You have owned the car since what? 2003?

I say sell it. As the mileage increases, combined with the daily abuse, you are in for a HUGE rude awakening soon.... thats gonna put a big dent in your wallet.

It's a stupid little problem I know it. If you had the car for 30 minutes I bet you would find the issue. This is what's most annoying. :mad2:

TJ I don't need financial advice, but thank you for the concern.

I'm not selling it, Zack. Ever.
