I am a noob and in need of advice. I just ordered the full sw exhaust and lt headers. I am trying to find someone in the Houston area that could point me in the direction of a decent shop for installation. Also what has everone experienced cost wise when paying a shop?

Any info would be great!

If you have access to a lift you can install yourself. It really wasn't that hard of a mod... I just wouldn't attempt unless you can get it on a lift for the day...

Hardest part is getting the headers in, after that it's a piece of cake! Everything just bolts up, piece by piece. 2 man job for sure though.

Let's see - $1,000 for the headers and $1,500 for the rest of the exhaust system + $500 install = $3,000. (Plus $400 for thermal costing). Mmmmmm - that's over half the cost of a Trilogy SC and equals the cost of an Eaton SC Cobra install.

Cost vs. Performance?

Or you could pocket $2500, and go shorties and cobra mid pipes!

Would someone please explain to me why when a member asks for advise on installation of a mod he purchased to make his Marauder exactly what HE wants it to be SOME other members go out of their way to trash his choice and in effect call him stupid on the internet because his choice is not theirs. What kind of egocentric thought is that? Dennis:confused:

Glenn is so hell bent on what he has (which he didn't install himself) and must defend it constantly even though what he paid for headers, downpipes and install cost as much as the SW costs - which do make more power.

To the poster:

Congrats on the headers, I'd take to a custom exhaust shop in your area.
Post up some pictures when it's done!

:flamer: ^_^

I wish SW offered headers for the CV. I'll be going with the full kooks package + ceramic coating come next paycheck :D

I paid a total of $800 installed for everything including the hi-flow X pipe with CATS, ceramic coated headers and installation. That's hardly the cost of a SW or Kooks system.

NO where in my post did I mention shorties - not once. MY point is cost vs performance! Kooks or SSW headers/systems are far too expensive for the resulting HP gain. There are several other performance options that will give you HP for much less $.

Congrats on the purches and choice I think you will be happy.

You can do it yourself and alone that is what I did it is just time consuming that way and a bit slower going.

You may or may not need a Lokar flexable dipstick and the EGR tube maybe a bit of a PITA to get hooked up other than that you should be just fine. And I used the Ford exhaust manifold gaskets for the install and never had a leak or problem with them. Starter will go back in pretty easily so no worries there.

You can use the stock manifold bolts but if you want an esaier time of it the Stage 8 locking header bolts can make the install a little bit easier seeing 2 differnt types of tools can be used on them.

:congrats:

Well, its in somewhat upset w/ SW considering the issues wit the install. I do need to get the lokar dipstick which was to be expected. But the fact that the o2 extentions didnt work, half the clamps were the wrong size and the last set of hangers right behind the muffler were completly useless makes me mad if you look at the cost of the system.

Also curious why anybody would be knocking me for buying this setup? I figured it would be the best route instead of piecing together some other system. my bad.

Did you try contacting SW with your issues?

One of my o2 extension wires was the wrong one I gave them a shout and they sent the correct one to me right away along with some free T-Shirts.

too late now really, finished up on Sunday. About all they can do now is send me the correct o2 extentions. they are pretty damn tight right now. I need them for sure. I had clamps and hangers made to replace the ones that were sent and tacked the tips in place since the other clamps didnt work. The hangers on the rear tips were too short and the tips would have melted the bumper if that wasnt fixed.

Anything besides the headers is a total waste of money.
Aside from removing the cats or replacing them with high flow units....the rest of the stock, STAINLESS STEEL exhaust has proven to support over 600 rwhp.

Just my .02

Well at this point I wish I would have done just the headers w/ high flow cats. The system did not fit real well and could have saved the extra cash to finish buying eaton swap pieces :D BTW: I will be sending my grills to you in the near future. How long of a turn around time do you think?

Im sorry to hear about the problems you experienced with the SW full exhaust system... Mine really did go up with little trouble...

I did burn a hole in the drivers side airbag but I blame myself for believing the position I originally put the exhaust in was far even from the rear suspension air bag...

other than that it's expensive but I enjoy the exhaust note & since I have over 625RWHP+ I really needed to go the SW way...

with the new JT trim now on I expect close to 700RWHP

I don't know about you all that have had issues...I have been riding SW full setup with no issues. And they indeed make power. I have the graphs to prove it.
