I recently purchased the Gods Head Emblem set from Car Motorsports. While they are beautiful, I had a hard time with the trunk mounted one. It is slightly curved to match the shape of the trunk, but no matter how I rotated it, it would not match the curves. So I finally just pressed it on as hard as I could, thinking the 3M tape would hold. But much to my dismay, it pulled away slightly at the top and bottom. And these things don't bend! They are hard as nails! Is mine defective or is this the way they are?

Damn sucks to hear that especially for how pricey they are.

VERY expensive! I thought they would be thicker too! Beautiful finish, but thin! I bought a new grill and couldn't stand the peeling OEM Merc badge anymore! The front one looks really nice, the steering wheel one as well. FYI: DON'T take off the original steering wheel badge. The new one sticks OVER it. I took the old one off, which leaves the rubber air bag cover. The badge does NOT stick to it! I was thankfully able to put the old badge back on. It attaches with clips, not glue, which surprised me. I thought I was screwed by pulling it off, but when I straightened the clips and pressed it back on, it was secure. Just be sure to disco the battery, or your neighbors will hate you!

The modified original rear emblems look the best to me. You know, the ones with the wheel center cover in place of the waterfalls.
Maybe after you get it off you can bend it in a padded vice to more closely match the trunk curve.

I very carefully taped it off and caulked it with black silicone caulk. I will see the results in the morning. If a no go, I will be calling Car Motorsports.
The gaps are small, but still not acceptable.

First off you have to make sure the area is clean of wax and what not before trying to stick them on.
I have had mine on for almost 2 years now and no problems I just refused to use the stearing wheel one incase the air bag ever goes off.
I used both turtle wax bug and tar remover then alcahol to clean the area it was going on before I atempted to place it.
Car Motorsports sells the replacment stick pads BTW if the original one is screwed up now AJ might even send you one for free he is pretty cool.
I clear coated mine first to make sure there would be no issues with them in the future especialy the front one.
But yes the rear did not sit perfectly the curve wasn't just right but it coverd up the original mounting holes just fine and once it was on there was never an issue with it.

Same here, my trunk lid emblem went on perfect the first time.

Well, this emblem just wasn't the right curve to fit right. And the tape didn't seperate from the paint, it seperated from the emblem! After I put a little black cailk around it, it actually looks real nice now. No one but me will ever notice it.

I installed mine a little while ago and I ran into the same problem with the trunk.
