View Full Version : Heated seats in a 300A?

I was thinking of replacing my drivers seat this year, but I'd really love the replacement to be heated too. My car never had heated seats from the factory. I was wondering if I could get a heated seat, could I install a toggle switch somewhere to make it turn to low off and high? Is there more to it than the switch? Does the factory switch have something special in it that a toggle switch from radio shack lacks?

Any and all help is appreciated.

Thanks!

I remember there was a dealer installed option available on the mercury website.... But that was 2-3 years ago. I imagine it still is available for the grand marque.

I had aftermarket heated seats put in my car. They work perfect, some are single temp, and some have hi/lo settings. I went with the single temp to save a few bucks and see no reason to spring for the dual temp ones but thats just my opinion. I think I paid 175 bucks per seat to add them.

I have hi/lo heated seats in mine. Works great! I'm sure the original owner had them put in 8 years ago! Sunroof too!

I have factory heated seats in my '04. Going to heat the rear seats this year.

More to it than just swapping out the seats and adding a switch, will need to install the correct wiring harness as well. PM Fordnut, IIRC, he retro-fitted his car with OEM heated seats.

I need to persuade you somehow to do my front seats--now that would be the snits

No need to persuade...

I'll do it, just need to get the kits & you need to come up north.

How long does it take? Could it be done in MV a day before or after?

Don't know, haven't done them yet.

I'd think you looking at least 1 day.

I really wanna replace my seat because it's worn out and finding a heated replacement would be a bonus. Could I work something out like sending you (or the Ford dealer if you still work for one) factory heated Marauder seats and we find a way to hook them up?

That's what I'm really looking at, not a conversion for the old ones.

Let me know if we can work something out.

Thanks.

Factory conversion requires many mods, the wiring harness is the least of the problems. I would recommend aftermarket.

Sounds like the best bet is new seats (or at least less worn out seats) and install aftermarket burners. Thanks man.

Either that or a crashed donor car to cut wiring harnesses out of.

Like Fordnut said it would be much easier to do aftermarket heated seats.

I'm going to do something like these.

If retrofitting factory seats you'd need the seats, wiring harness and door panels (for the switches).

BTW..... I stopped working as a Ford / Lincoln / Mercury mechanic in 1983.

When and if you can, send me any info you may have on the kits. I'll see what I can do about gettng them and when.

I would love a re-visit.

Thank my friend.

POST EDIT: Whoops--Looks like I should take a peek of some info just posted above this---.

$80 seems great, but the issue I have is it's not from Ford. I don't mean to be bashing the company before I try them, but I have found that most aftermarket companies give me problems after about two years. Nothing holds up like OEM parts. It seems worth a try though.

Have aftermarkets in mine and the only issue is the seat switch's. trying to locate new ones, other than that no problems
