I went to Lowes and found this 3" Rubber Cap. It comes with a stainless steel clamp, and is made by Fernco (A reputable coupling manufacturer). You have to tighten it down pretty good, but it looks as stock as you can trying to cover a 3" hole in the intake system.
Part# Fernco 3" PlumbQwik "Qwik Cap" (PQC-103)
See attached pic. You can see the oil lines to the By-pass system in the pic also. I'll post pics of that in a different thread.

At least it doesn't have "Peter Pan" printed on it :)

You should personalize the cap (engrave something on it to make it look like a custom job), and sell them through Logan here on the site. Heck, I wouold have bought the new "silencer fix kit" for $25.00!

Hmmm, I am now offering my non-patented peanut jar lid silencer fix kit. You'll receive (via UPPS) the lid painted in Marauder black, a tube of silicone and autographed installation instructions. $19.95 (not $25.00) and I'll pay shipping to CONUS. Pictures are in the photo gallery. $5.00 from each sale will be contributed to www.mercurymarauder.net . .. Don't add another unslightly clamp under your hood when a smooth (and creamy) solution is only a PM away....:D

Or I'll send you a piece of tape and a replacement clamp for $5 and... Ahh... forget it...

I just picked up my Fernco cap from Lowes this evening on my dinner break. It'll be going on tomorrow morning. Thanks for the idea!

Not a bad fix for less than 5 bucks, eh. Oh and Costable, of course I've got valve noise. I must be a freak, I like it. As long as everything is getting lubed, I'm down with the sewing machine sound.
