Okay it was @ the start of last year when I found out about and started to bring my Marauder to car shows and cruise nights. Before that time I hadn't even been to one since I moved into the state.
This was after I had done the K&N CAI kit and the spoiler plus the Parts from Daniel @ Colex.
A month into my going to the events I got the SW Maucat system and put it on. And then a month after I tore the engine down and did the color work @ the same time as the Coolant flow mod and the head work.
I figured if I was going to take her to car shows being such a new car compaired to all of the others that usualy go she should look like a show car inside and out.
Anyways my point is here my whole reason for taking her and myself to shows and cruise nights is because of my Marauder I never felt I had a reason other wise.
Right now because I am going to Carlisle I am trying to save every dime I can get my hands on to make sure I am fine with the trip all the way around and can enjoy it.
Because of this I have stoped going to car shows and cruise nights with the guys. They do understand my overall reason why needing to save money for the trip but what they do not understand is why I will not go with them in their show cars and just enjoy it without the Marauder.
I tryed to tell them my whole purpose for these events is to bring and show off my Marauder. I don't want to be one of those people that go to the shows and talk about this and that with people and when asked "where is your car?" have to talk about something they can't see.
So far since I started to go to these things since last year I have had the only Marauder @ them and very few people had a clue what it was or had only heard about them but never seen one. That to me is what makes it all something special. She draws a croud around her from start to finish.
As much as I enjoy seeing and talking to people about what they bring to the events it just isn't the same without the Mistress!
SO I ask all of you are they right in thinking I am crazy not to go anyways with them?

Hey to each their own. I have always tried to go to cruise night when I had my Camaro SS. I did not care if I had my car with me or if I left it at home. It has never bothered me if someone asked me wheres my car. Im just happy to be socializing with anybody at a cruise night. In the end. everyone there is a car lover of some sorts.
Oh and you are crazy. Crazy cool for owning a Marauder. LOL

I just like going to car shows. I take my marauder to shows and park outside of the show and look at the cars. I don't go to show off my car, I go to look at all the nice cars. I find my car too new to show and I like the old cars so I just go down to look at them. I wouldn't stay home because I left my marauder at home. I would go down and if anyone asked if I had a car there I would just simply say no. I would just go to be sociable and check out the nice cars that people have poured their blood sweat tears and money into.

That's the point I am pouring money into her because of these events. Why bother doing mods that make her look better if I am not going to show her off in the first place? I could have built a faster car instead with the modifications I did to make her look better.
This is also why I only go to events that have no cut off date for the cars. I feel if she can't be in them then why bother going.
Keep in mind till I found this web site back in 2008 I had plans to just have her as a daily driver and never thought she was special enough to be anything more than that.
It was reading your stories about your Marauders and going to shows and cruises that mde me realize she could be a lot more than what she was being used as. So this site and all
of you were my inspiration in doing what I have done with her.

Yes, I think you're crazy, too. ;)
Neither of my MMs is show-car quality, I just bring one or the other (sometimes both) to show what a Marauder IS to people who have never seen one or never heard of them. That doesn't mean that I sit next to my car the entire time just in case someone comes by with a question. I like to wander about and look at other cars and talk to people as well.
If you only go to show off YOUR car, and don't care about other people's cars, then by all means don't go without your car.

Obviously with all of the pictures I post from the car shows and cruise nights I go to I do a lot of walking around and picture taking. Check out the threads in the New England Marauders forum have a ton of pics posted of other cars.
But I don't have enough enjoyment without being able to show off the Marauder.
Plus another thing that bothers me right now is with trying to save up the cash for Carlisle it means not having money when I go to an event right now. And I feel funny having my friends pay for drinks and or food for me as well.
I told them they just have to relax a little while longer then I will go with them again. Unfortunatly they don't seem to drop the subject and keep trying to get me to change my mind.

I realise that my reply may have sounded a bit sarcastic...I'm sorry. I didn't mean it that way, I just meant that if being there without your own car causes you so much stress then don't go, but I still think you're denying yourself the pleasure of being with other car enthusiasts and having a nice evening. If money is an issue, then that's a factor as well....

I think your crazy......... crazy about a Mercury.
Not a thing wrong with that, a man has to have a hobby.

I never did any of this until I got the Marauder. Occasionally, I would see a car gathering but just wasn't aware of how big a hobby this is. In the Northern Virginia area, I could probably go to a car show or a car cruise on Saturday AND Sunday of every weekend from April to October. Lots of activity here.
I like showing the car; but will still walk around and look at all the various makes and models that are there. I continue to be amazed at the time, effort, and money some folks sink into this hobby.
Its nice to show the car; but I won't hang around it ALL DAY 'cause I don't want to miss out on seeing everything else. Personally, I have been more successful at shows with trophies by just parking it, setting up the display and walking away. The car will do the "talking" or not. Every show and every cruise is a little different.

Sounds like you need to chillax. It's just a hobby, don't get bent out of shape over it. Deep breaths.

It is your hobby and you do not feel like going then you should not go. If your friends keep on insisting you go and they know you cannot afford it then they apparently like your company and do not mind paying your way. I would not make a habit of it but once in a while is not a bad thing. It is great to have friends that want to hang around with you. Look forward to meeting you someday.

I have to agree with you, I never did car shows or any kind of organized meets until I owned the Marauder. Then once I picked up on the attention it draws I started taking better care of it and love showing it off at small local meets.
Im a fan of all cars and since my Marauder is down at the moment I been still attending local car shows and admiring what other people have. I still like to have something to show off when I attend so depending on how big the show is determines if Ill bring my Fusion along just to hang or my 62 Starfire to be involved.

It isn't like we do not get together.
We play cards once a week @ night switching between each house.
Every other week we get together for a cook out @ one of our houses.
So no matter what we do spend some time together having fun I just stoped doing the car show thing till Carlisle is done then I will be back @ it with them again.
I am just not happy about what I have saved for the event still short of my goal but I am going no matter what.

I'm of the opinion you should go with your friends even if you go in their car rather than the MM. Any night out with buds is better than sitting home watching TV.:).....and yes your certifiable:P:D

Yesterday we all got together for a cook out @ Dave's then played phase-10 after words.
They asked me to go to a car show today with them but I said I wanted to get the door sill plates on today and do a few other odds and ends to the Marauder. I got the usual :depress: and :alone: from them by not going.
I told them only another week or so then we can all go and hang out @ the shows and cruise nights.
But Dave is pretty upset that his son's graduation from the Military accadomy prep school is this comming up weekend and they can not go to Carlisle like they normaly do each year.
Jerry is into GM only so I don't have to worry about him. I am sure the both of them will find something to do next weekend.
