From what I hear, those speeds are a little dangerous for our driveshafts. I don't know because my car is stock and tops out at 120, but I think I heard something about 160...???

If you have 4.10's and a stock driveshaft yes you should be careful Ive tooken mine up to 140mph with my buddy in the car I felt it couldve done 150 but at those speeds not much more to improve. I did this on a very long wide open highway road late I. The morning coming back from Tampa with no one else to hurt but my dumbself!

I did the huge numbers once, never again if I can help it. It's not going that fast that's scary, it's slowing back down.

Had the needle past 140 once, never really any safe areas to run at without fear or of wild life. I took my car to a private track and had it up to 128-129, just wasn't enough room to move on with stock gears.

140+ MPH with 4.10:1 gears, I hope you have a special dirveshaft if that's the true speed you're hitting! My guess is probably not.

It's possible that with your 4.10 gears, your tune is not compensated for it. If that's the case then you were probably doing about 121 MPH with the speedo indicated 140 factoring the 15% difference with the factory 3.55 gears.

Try verifying your true speed with a GPS device and see if it matches your speedometer and also showed us your GPS indicated Max speed.

It can if you don't have the required power to overcome pushing that much weight that fast through air.

The best example is the Bugatti Veyron: The power requirements at a constant 155 mph the Veyron is using approximately 270bhp; to run the next 100 mph (total 250 mph) it requires an additional 720bhp.

I trust you, but I don't trust your speedometer. I trust GPS indicated speed more than the car's speedometer.

Do you have a professional dyno tune or just canned tune out of a programmer?

Theoretical top speed for the stock Mercury Marauder is 154 MPH, that's with the 3:55 rear end.

I did not have GPS hooked up, but my needle was buried on The Banshee and from the seat of the pants feel, it was significantly faster than my N/A with tune, CAI & 4.10's.

Way more than can be used on a consistant basis in "Mexico", but every once in a while the road clears:). I will say that the stock suspension setup is not really optimal for that speed. Car gets extremely floaty. Got to have a delicate touch on the steering wheel and control reactions to the "wallow" effect. Way different than driving 130 in the same car inmho.

i think the atock marauders have a govern that only allows them to go 117 but if you get it removed you can probaly go fadter in a stock marauder

I passed through the night together with a 5.0 Mustang and a T/A. We were all doing over 140mph and that's with my 4.10
My bud in the 5.0 would slow a bit if he put it into 5th gear o/d.
Handling was great, just like doing 80mph. Much more controlled than the time I took a Honda Civic to it's limit back in the day.
