So I stripped the top end down and was amazed at the amount of oil just sitting on the top of some of the valves! The worst culprits were cyliner #1 and #8. The valve seals and guides must be pretty worn. New heads are being prepped for the new block coming soon. Then I can break the entire old engine down. 128k on the motor and it was only sitting for a day before I took the pics.

:D It'll be interesting to have the heads port matched to that intake and the gaskets. It amazing how unmatched the original castings are!

Oh man. Are you having a shop rebuild a spare set of heads w/ new guides?

Nope on the new heads, yes on the old. Just port matching the new heads. Low miles and in great condition! As soon as I'm done porting them, the heads, timing cover and timing components I have will go out to be assembled on my new sb. Then I'll eventually have the old block and heads rebuilt. It will be nice to have a spare engine. I made a mistake not getting Mike's KB rauder engine when I had the chance. Got voted down by the missus back then.. :(
