DAMN IT!!! Sometime between 0230 and 1300 hours on 11-22-03, an unknown vehicle, machine, or object struck my MM in the rear bumper cover.
The initial impact was on the lowest, rearmost point of the cover... that area where the lowest part turns up from under the car. It's a 3" x 3" area of vertical scrapes that go through the paint and deep into the plastic.
I'm unbelievably ticked off.
So here's the plan: get truck back on road, get MM off road, get valve guide / head fixed under warranty (hopefully), ship MM off to body shop for 2 dings / tons of buffer burn / bumper cover fix.

Whats up with with your head? Is it making noise?

I can hear it ticking from about 30 feet away... nice, right? Come to think of it, I can see this big scrape on my bumber cover from about 30 feet away, too. Maybe I should stand 40 feet away... then all my troubles would be gone!

What do you mean there's a noise coming from the head? Also, I just noticed buffer burns on my car (I just put my 5th coat of Z5 on, and I noticed it after I pulled my car out into the sun), is this covered by warranty, or will they say I caused it? I really want to know because I have a black MM, and the buffer burns are kinda white and annoy me when I see them.

Sorry to hear about the hit and run. Why is it so hard for people to 'fess up these days?

My buffer burn was caused by the hack job that my dealer's detail company did. The dealer hires an outside source to come in and clean the cars... bastards!!
The noise from the driver side head is most likely a bad valve guide... this topic has been discussed at length. Run a search for "ticking" and the threads will pop up. Steve (TripleTransAm) has some excellent posts on the topic.

Do you know if the buffer burns caused by the dealer, or the company that they outsourced, covered under warranty? Because, if the burn spots are covered, I would much like to have them fixed.
