well i figured out why the alt is squeaking, it is the brushes. im told that you cant buy just the brushes for it (figures:rolleyes:) but i haven't herd of any one else having this problem. i tried cleaning them up with some scotch bright and the shaft that they ride on as well. i was thinking of taking it to a rebuild place and see if they can work there magic.
anyone else have there alt squeak from the brushes?

my alt squeeks some if the car has been sitting a while and it's damp outside. This is my second alternator that's doing this though, my first one was BAD, and I think this second one is a reman unit instead of the new that I was told when I purchased it. I thought it was bearings in the pulley or something though, so this is news to me. Very interesting.

if you get a chance pull it out and pull the regulator off (the brushes are attached to it) then spin it by hand. see if the squeak goes away.

Bawazirs was bad as well. I replaced it and the next day it came back (not as bad) and finally went away on its own two days later. Can't remember if it was a reman or not.
