Are you sure of that part number? Neither Jegs or Summit carry anything with that number.
Summit shows a 33-2012 that fits "Ford: 1985-86 5.0L Bronco, 1986-91 5.0L Crown Victoria".

Yes, that's the right number, and yes, that's the original application and yes it fits the marauder's airbox...

OK, now I'M confused. Which number is right - 30-2012 or 33-2012?

I am not a big fan of K&N air cleaners. What happens is when you oil them, the oil will migrate to the fine wire elements of the Maf, To make the insulation worse, once oil gets on the hot wire, it will now collect more dirt, thus insulating the wire even more. this can cause a multitude of drivability issues.
I have dyno sheets that show very little if any gains with a K&N over a stock clean paper filter, why take the chance of screwing up the Maf? And some dealers will invalidate an engine warranty, if a K&N is installed.
I have NEVER seen a K&N filter gain power over a paper filter if the dimensions of the filter are the same. If you have one just dont oil it wash it out in hot soapy water blow dry and keep it clean like you would a paper element.
so basically you dont think there are worth the 40 bucks? i want the most bang for the buck so im taking your advice on this since you have the most exp.

well again the advantage to it is, its a filter you can re'use the dissadvantage is it can screw the Maf up if you oil it to much, again I have not seen the K&N make power over a clean paper filter the same size.
thanks you save me 40$ that can go towards the chip in the near future.

Dennis,
What about the FIPK's? And what about that cool little ball thing they do with a stock paper filer vs. theirs? LOL! :D

Dennis - If you haven't seen any performance difference with the K&N air filters, what do you recommend? The stock air filter?

Mr. Reinhart - do you believe this analysis applies to the 2001 Ford F-150 SUPERCREW 4.6 liter V8? I just dropped one (K&N air filter) in my wife's truck with 20,000 miles on it. It may just be psychological, but I thought it ran better last night when I took it out for a drive on Interstate 30. (though may have been original Ford filter removed was just dirty?!)
Thanks for the information/opinion.

I have to disagree here, I had a KN FIPK on my 01 mustang GT and while the performance gains were rather low (maybe just a couple hp) there WAS a difference, and there was a very obvious change in sound. The car sounded alot better, and I never had a problem screwing up my MAF. I have heard there is a contingent of people that do "encrust" their needles, but if you follow the right cleaning proceedure its never a problem.
How many people have thrashed their MAF's vs. how many people own a KN without having a single problem? its gotta be at least less than 1% on stangnet and corral I dont think it amounts to any more than a couple.

Hey"autolisle"-
I've got a 2002 150 SUPERCREW W/20k on her as well--think I will do as you and see if the same happens==Had a "98 Vic --put in a K/N and it sounded like "Hear me Roar Peole" when I hit the floor w/her..so maybe the same for sound and who knows what else ....that good huh! BTW =What's the Part # for the 150 KN?
