well ive been sitting on these parts for a few months now and i think im finally ready to start getting some stuff done with them.

what i have is:

03 heads with 70k on them
03 cobra short block 39k on it

im just going for a basic setup no fancy porting or stroking or cams. those things dont seem to gain enough power for the money they cost, the money i dont have tons of.

what id like to know from you guys that have been down this road is if there is anything that SHOULD be done. i plan to have the short block gone through to make sure its good to go and fix anything that may be problematic. for the heads, im going to have them completely torn down, inspected and rebuilt with what ever they may need.

with the heads being from an 03, is there anything to be done to them specifically? i know they had a few problems.

do you guys feel like i would benefit from cams at all? i mean its kind of a stupid question but id like to put down about 100 more hp then now (430).

any insight would be of great benefit, thanks

Dave

You can put it together and it will probably be just fine.

If you start having things checked out....the wallet has to open.

Have new valve guides put in and use IRON timing chain tensioners along with a Melling 10227 pump

Have the spark plug threads done over with steel helicoils/inserts - just ask blackened300a!

Jesel cam followers? :D j/k

Good luck with it. Full windage tray is like $100 - might get you a few extra HP.

No need to ask. I gave him the whole story on Saturday.

If I were you I'd degree the cams.

Full valve job, and check for loose valve seats.

I wouldn't do this unless the threads are bad.

my tuner told me about this and it seems like an easy way to gain a few pony's

Go with the Viton valve seals too for the short money...
