Been driving my bone-stock MM since August and finally saved my pennies to spring for 2 of 3 planned(ha) performance mods. I installed a K&N CAI 2 weeks ago, then the Reinhart tune last week.
I got to drive it for a couple of days before a 500mile trip over the weekend. It's a pretty big improvement. The car is a blast to drive. Around town it is perfectly behaved when driving mellow, and perks right up when I get on it. While driving 75 on the freeway, I floored to pass and it is amazing how it gets up and goes from that speed! The sound alone is worth it.
Car never missed a beat. the only thing I've had to do is tight the clamps on the K&N twice. Both times the car just didn't feel right. The clamps turned pretty easy about a full rotation. Hmm. On the road trip I had a stretch of about 80 miles of 55mph highway with just a couple of stops followed by about 100 miles of freeway. I filled up on both ends - 24.7 MPG! What a great car.
Thanks Dennis, and thanks MercuryMarauder.net. This forum is really informative, entertaining and disturbing at times. It's a good resource, a good read, and has quite a cast of characters. When my kids are out of high school I should endeaver to make an event. In Kentucky. With bourbon field trips :-)
