View Full Version : Don't Miss Out on the Best Part of MM.Net

If you have only been participating in the MM.Net from your computer keyboard, you are really missing out on one of the the very best parts of being a Mercury Marauder owner and enthusiast.

Each year, MM.Net sponsors some really excellent local, regional and national events that go all the way back to 2003. Don't miss an opportunity to come out and really participate in the activities. I am pretty sure that if you do it once, you'll be hooked.

So far this year there have been events like the Annual Regional Meet in Louisville, KY. There was the annual Berts 50s Diner meet in Maryland and the New Hampshire Meeting in Loudon, NH.

The largest gathering at ALL FORD NATIONALS just took place this past weekend at the Fairgrounds in Carlisle, PA with 40 MMs and nearly 80 members, friends or family in attendance.

Marauderville VIII (MV8) is being planned for 8-12 September 2010 down in Charlotte, NC and it is shaping up to be a fantastic event. Don't Miss It.

The 2010 Super Heavyweight Shootout (SSHS10) in November 2010 down in Commerce, GA will pit some of the fastest Marauders in the country up against the Chevy Impalas, Mark VIII, Dodge Challengers and Dodge Chargers in the over 4000 pound class.

Don't just be content to sit at home and ponder the fun, pics and videos. Come on out and you'll be glad that you did. Even if it means a drive of 4, 6, or even 8 hours --- it is more than worthwhile to be involved IN THE ACTION. Be a participant if you can --- it is 10 times better than being only an observer from a distance.

Some folks drive 1,000 miles or more one-way to be a part of the action. Maybe you can't do that many miles -- but maybe you can do half that. 500-600 miles in a Marauder is a cake walk.

Coming out to meet the faces behind the screennames the first time is really the hard part. Once you have done it once, you'll be addicted.

So if you ever get the opportunity to show up at one of these events. Please try to be there. You won't be disappointed. Every one of the members is friendly and will welcome you into the gang. Just ask anyone who has participated in these events.

Hope to see you at a Marauderville, Louisville, or Carlisle in the future.

I definately second that, Charlie!! I still remember our first foray into this addiction. LOL! It was K Clingers in Hanover. Met you, Joe Walsh, Haggis, Big Dog Jim, possibly FordFrk and Seneca and Rich Long? Anyway, I haven't been the same since!

After being a member of markviii.org for 7+ years and only having about 4 meets available to me (SSHS7,8,&9) plus a little impromptu meet in Fort Pierce I am overjoyed at the group participation in MM.net and I am proud to be a member.
I will be happy to be at SSHS10 and maybe Marauderville too.
Love this place.
Heck I 1st met Pops at SSHS7!

So we are gonna see you at Marauderville VIII (MV8) in Charlotte, NC, right?? That's only 544 miles. You can do it in under 9 hours. Some of us can do it in 7.5 hours. ;)

Great post Charlie!

I lurked on the site for several months in early '04 before 'taking the plunge' and showing up at the Kent Narrows, Md. BigBats meet.
I even showed up in a Chevy Blazer because I had wiped out my Marauder's oil pump drag racing earlier in the year!
The first people that I met were Phil, Tasha, & Gordon.... and they immediately welcomed me to the club.
I've been enjoying the great friends and fun ever since.

The Orator has spoken, but seriouly Charlie, no truer words have ever been spoken/writen. You owe it to yourself to attend at least Marauderville. True, a lot of the events may be/or are quiet a distance from where you may live, (believe me i know) but it is well worth the trip to attend the main event or a regional. You never know what you might miss (Kentucky) heck you may even win some money. It is usually planned well in advance for you to make what ever plans you need to make to get your face in the place. It will do your heart good to put a face with the words you see put forth on this forum.
Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet, load up the car, even if it's not a Marauder, and head out on the road.

SEE YOU THERE!!!

Very well said there Charlie--It is what it is!! Once you go to a meet, even if its just a 2 or 3 car meet --it starts with just doing it....then you just get hooked......

Once again ...very nicely put.....Tom

If you had a wooden club, you'd look like Captain Caveman.

We had a cookout / cruise / carshow show up here is Massachusetts where we were able to get 7 marauders together. I thought that was pretty impressive. Though the site didn't contribute to it, the site brought us together and helped me to meet new people and friends in the area... Who happen to have nice taste in vehicles! Would like to have another Massachusetts gathering, but it seems very IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone together around here!

You hit the nail on the head to say the least!

I had a great time for my first time out @ Carlisle and I wish I could have done it sooner.

Next year I plan to do the New Hampshire get together as well as Carlisle and already set up my budget program on the PC to make sure it happens.

Only a couple of mod's planed to make sure there is money left to do both events.

Thanks!

What convinced me was the photo's you posted from this year and then the good time I had with you all @ Carlisle locked the descision into play.

I just wish I could drag myself out of bed earlier for each day @ Carlisle so I did not get to the Fair Grounds late morning on Saturday and Sunday. :shake:
