I am hoping to mod my car in the spring.

Off the bat I am looking to either do a "Chip" or a "Superchips Microtuner" and UnderDrive pulleys.

If I go with the "Superchips Microtuner", will adding colder plugs and a new thremostat help with the engine, or is this mod mainly for use with a "Custom Chip"???

Then I might go with 4.10 gears, after seening how everything else goes.

Bowman:

If you do a custom chip, you'll either have to send it back to be re-burned once you install the 4.10s, or you can have it preset for the 4.10 gears ahead of time, and just realise that your speedometer and your shift points will be off until the gears are in...that is, if the time between getting the chip and getting the gears isn't TOO long...

With the Superchips Custom Tuning unit, you can do all this yourself...

As far as the plugs and 'stat...Dennis recommends going 2 steps colder (plugs) and a 180° 'stat for his chips..with the SCT unit, you will have control over the spark and fuel tables, so it would depend on how aggressively you alter them as to whether you need to change the plugs and 'stat...

Can the Superchips tuner tune the same stuff as Reinhart or is it limited in what it can do?

Directedby, I think there may be some confusion here...there are two separate units: the Superchips Micro-Tuner, that Cole Performance was selling, and the Superchips Custom Tuning unit (I forget it's exact name) developed by Jerry Wroblewski and Company...the first has limited functions, the second is available with functions up to the level at which Dennis programs...the only thing missing is his skill and experience...which to ME are more important...it seems like it would be very easy to get yourself in trouble with a unit that gives access to all of the parameters that a good chip tuner like Dennis would use, without first having the experience to recognise when you may have just gone beyond the point of safety with timing advance, A/F ratio, etc...

I agree, but maybe Jerry can set a pre-program or can give detailed instructions on how to program the chip.

There's a whole forum about Superchips Custom Tuning on the Modular Depot site...I'm not familiar enough with the unit to really address this issue...try this link (http://forums.modulardepot.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=31). SCT Guy and SCT Guy 2 are two of the developers...

Perhaps Dennis can give more info...it's my understanding that he's going to be selling them...

Reading stuff over at Modular Depot makes me glad I have a place like this to return too.

It's going to be interesting to see what comes available soon. I'd love nothing more than to be able to attach a laptop, download the current tuning, make changes, save various profiles, etc.

My wife doesn't like the behavior of the vehicle now. She prefers a much more mild mannered behavior. When she plans to have it out for the day it would be nice to load it up the way she likes it.

Then I could have it loaded up the right way!

Umm, well I guess we all have our favourite merchants, and can buy from anyone we like, but I'd just like to add here that two of our current supporting vendors, Wes Chain of Innovative interceptors, and Dennis Reinhart of Reinhart Automotive, are also Superchips dealers and can provide us with SCMT.

RC, RF mentioned Dennis several times and even suggested calling him in one post. As for leaving out Wes, might I suggest a forum where members can see which mods each supporting vendor can do?

RC:

Sorry, I didn't mean to leave out Wes at Innovative Interceptors, I just didn't know he was selling the Superchips Custom Tuning equipment...my bad...mea culpa...

...and my reason for mentioning the ex-vendor, was to differentiate between the limited-function Micro-Tuner, which he offered, and the Superchips Custom Tuning setup, which he did not...I guess I could have been clearer on that issue...my bad, again...

Having just enjoyed a delightful Thanksgiving dinner, my tummy is full of that enzyme that make me want to watch any football game available on cable right now, while also snoozing on the couch. I don't do TV football, but I read the MM.Net. Nonetheless, I'm still a bit fuzzy and wanting to nap.

Bowman...If you're "thinking of doing something in the Spring", please check back with us then. Our reply will be more timely and accurate then. Stuff develops REAL fast here, Bowman, and our next 90 days of development before your "next Spring" arrives, could be full of alarming changes. Just look at the past 90 days?

"What's hot, and what's not" is daily business here, step lively my friend, or, get left behind fast. My "case in point" is the discussion between RC and RF here in this thread.

RC...RF...Maybe Agent and Maple too...Y'all...

My suggestion is that you do not buy anything SCT availble on the market right now. What has been offered here by a former vendor, and what's still promoted on e-bay, is not what we want to spend our money on.

DR is a "fresh" vendor with the new SCT programmer. Wes Chain is likewise plugged in. However, I cannot speak for either of them.

I suggest we all wait a while, and once we get a clear "green light" from Jerry, we can decide which vendor we want to spend out money with.

I am positive the product offered and delivered then, will be the right product for our MMs, with all the safeguards we need to have in place, in place...IMHO.

As Dennis has pointed out the basic Superchips Microtuner is fine, as long as the car is stock, or has very few mods. The SCMT is fairly economical as well.
Start modding and we certainly need something else, and this is where the new offerings from Superchips Custom tuning comes in.
If you are interested in the microtuner flash unit with Superchips Custom tuning though, it won't be available until Dec at the earliest, according to an e-mail I received from them.

Well with all that said I guess I will wait till spring to see what developes for our Marauders. I hope to have a little more spending cash then.

Thanks guys
