The Xcal 2 was very good flash device, it was replaced by the Xcal 3, and in the beginning this had some software issues, that has all been fixed by SCT. Why is the Xcal 2 no longer sold. They will not flash the newer EEC's and so SCT discontinued it and made the Xcal 3 which is far better.

This is why Xcal 2 are no longer sold or warranted through SCT, Put your trust in a new Xcal 3 from a licensed SCT dealer Such as Lidio, Wess or thousands of other licensed SCT dealers as my self, this is a much better deal than buying used discontinued Xcal 2's. If the Xcal 2 has been tampered with and you do a firmware update the software will blank the Xcal 2 out and it is ruined, so you are taking a chance on loosing your hard earned money on this discontinued product.

Now if there are any questions just pick the phone up and call SCT. Ask them if the person you are buying this product from is a licensed SCT dealer, as I am and Lidio, and Wes. Or any one that offers SCT products, www.sctflash.com (http://www.sctflash.com/) they will verify what I just stated here. Now this is not a violation of the TOS of this site, it is simply the truth. For you the members.

If any one has any other questions they can call me and I will gladly explain further and answer any questions you have, any SCT dealer can send any one a file no matter who you bought your Xcal from, but the file format is now CEF or LL3. No licensed SCT should be sending a XTR file, that capability was removed months ago, XTR files can be copied and sent to others who never purchased the custom tune. This is why SCT went to the different file format, SCT sends out a notice of a software updates, every SCT Dealer has a Dongle it is the key that activates the latest version of Advantage 3.

When you open your Advantage 3, SCT routinely sends out updates, it adds new EEC codes, and new revised data basis, as well as it removes the older advantage software that did not use a Dongle, if a SCT dealer has a computer that has the older advantage on it, you legally still can use it if you are a licensed SCT dealer but there is no support, for it no new data files, and if you lose the license key they will not issue a new one. It also removes the capability to send a XTR file, all this was done to protect SCT dealers, and now all files require that you give your device serial number of your Xcal 2 or 3 this is encrypted in the file so only that file can be used with the Xcal that matches that serial number, all this was done to protect the SCT dealers files from being stolen or copied.

SCT can decode a LL3 file but only if it is from the dealer who sold it. This is also why the Xcal 1 can no longer be programed or supported. That ability was removed last year. Now there are copies of SCT older software called extreme software, and you can take a xtreme file and make small changes to it, but you can't program a Xcal 3 or live wire with it, and and if
you were a SCT dealer you would not be using it, you would be building your own files from your own data bases not tweaking some other SCT dealers files. To me that is theft. So I hope this helps. Stay with Licensed SCT dealers.
