So my rear shocks have been squeaking for the last 2k miles pretty bad so it's time to get new ones. Has anyone gone with gabriel ultras for the back. I picked up a set cuz that's what I could get my hands on. Heard good things about them but have yet to install them. I searched around and couldn't find anyone on here that went with them.

Most here run the Monroe Sensatrack. Some run CVPI rears. The rest Naake and QA-1

I had Monroe Sensatraks, never again. I replaced the Monroes with OEM ones and they do give a better ride in my opinion.

Which one did you get? I know the catalog lists only 69575 as an option for the MM, but that's a twin tube (your factory shock is a monotube). If you look at the 03+ Grand Marquis in the catalog, it lists a 77955 for "air spring" applications and I believe it is just a re-stickered CVPI monotube shock made by Tokico/Motorcraft.

Anyway I would be curious to know how many miles on your OE shocks and wonder why they are squeaking..

My OE Shocks have 90,887 on them (just looked at the odo) I had it up on a lift the other day and its just the driver side rear that squeaks and when i grab the middle of it, the middle actually shakes from side to side like its snapped in half. but acts normally while driving aside from making a hell of a racket. I went to autozone to price them and the only shocks they carried for the mm were gabriel ultras and advance had monroes and something else that I don't remember offhand.

I spent time researching what to get when I had the rear suspension upgraded. After spending alot of time reading I came to the conclusion the OEM were hard to beat. Hope you have good luck with your selection. If the fail to live up to your expectations go with the Oem's the are made by Tokikio(sp?)

Yes, the OE and Motorcraft are made by TOKICO, right here in the USA.:flag:

I'll throw the Gabriels on, if I don't like em I'll go to the ford dealer. But seeing as moines tried these I might as well give them a shot

I'm running gabriel Max Controls in the rear, and so far they ride great. Stiffer over OEM but not too stiff. I got my pair for 55$ off ebay :)

Yeah I really enjoy them :) The ride is a little stiff, but I also cut my stock springs when I installed them so that is probably what is causing it. Let me know how they feel once you break them in! :burnout:

Go with KYB and be done with it.

You do realize his car has springs and yours is an airbag set up. They will ride totally diffrent on your MM than on a CVPI.

Rear shock & front coil over shocks choice for the Marauder is so limited in selection. I found oem to be the best over all choice. Naake Q1s offer best performance choice. No matter what higher speeds they keep you planted with confidence & corner like a ginsu cuts steak. All the avalable choices have pros & cons I found non to offer exceptional handling & ride comfort combined.

So just out of curiosity... If the car is built before 12/01/03, you can go with either? Where do the differences lie? Mine was built 01/04 so I need ASH1152, correct? And can I get away with just buying one since only the left is making noise?

I replaced mine with KYB's. They are an excellent replacement for the originals. I have them on all 4 corners.

So I put in the gabriels. They handle so much better! It could have been that when I took my left rear shock out I could flip it over and it would compress itself. But it's definitely a night and day difference. Maybe the kyb's are a better shock but I'm happy with it right now, no more annoying squeaking and I can hit a pothole and not cringe.

Really? New Gabriels, cheap shocks that they are, are still better than a broken shock? I woulda never thunk.

The factory Tokico are awesome shocks for stock. I would not dream of replacing them with cheeseball Monroe, KYB, or Gabriel.

If you want an upgrade, you're going to have to spend more than the factory shocks. You can't get something for nothing, or more for less.

+1 on this - just make sure you get the Marauder specific PN's

No such things as a Marauder Specific part number for KYBs. They are the same P/Ns as the Police Interceptor shocks: 551602 for the Front and 555603 for the Rear.

Good deal on all 4 at Amazon http://www.amazon.com/KYB-2003-06-Marquis-Canadian-Vehicle/dp/B002YO997K/ref=sr_1_7?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1286475731&sr=1-7 This is w/free shipping.

May also want to check Race Pages because I believe Landy may have gotten them a little cheaper their.

Also check out your upper mount bushings on the fronts and rears before you pull the shocks. P/N SM5932 for the front mounts, and SM5267 for the rear mounts from KYB. Depending on your mileage you may want/need to replace these also. Can also order these from the Amazon store Just Suspension at a really good price.

Me personally I liked the KYBs in the front but thought the rear was little more bouncy than stock. Just my opinion other have liked them.

555603 & 551602 were the rear and front #'s listed when a Marauder fit search was done on the KYB site. There are shocks for the Town Cars & GM's that will fit the Marauder but have different PN's and ride characteristics. My caution was to not let anyone sell you shocks that "fit" but are not specific to the Marauder.
