View Full Version : Looking for long block (forged) information

I am considering purchasing a forged long block for the MM. I guess the question boils down to what will be the best option for a street driven MM? This car is a weekend toy, not a DD, but it does need to be able to be jumped in and driven across the country if need be.
Granted I don't want a stock motor, I want something that will be streetable, dependable and able to be boosted.
A Ford Aluminator is realatively cheap, Fox Lake has some offerings as well. I guess what I want to know are the pros/cons of either of my 2 choices. Other than the $$$$.
I am looking for a long block, not really wanting to build my own motor, so I'll take the pass on any "kits" that are out there.
TIA

You need a long block? Your heads are no good either? If so and you need a block that can be boosted then M-6007-A46SC (https://ssl111.webhosting.optonline.ne t/spartaperformance.com/merchantmanager/product_info.php?cPath=13_15&products_id=64) is a great choice.

My heads are fine, but it's easier to sell a running motor as oposed to a short block.
I'm just looking at my options for a new motor.

I agree Aluminator SC. I always liked the idea of getting a new Aluminator and then getting a stage 1 port and polish on the new heads, perhaps get the cams degreed.
Someday I'd like to do this.

Dont I wish; of course timing is everything (empty wallet):bigcry:
FRPP MFG-Part#:
Super Charged - M-6007-A46SC (http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField= 9678) - Fully Forged - 8.5:1 compression
Naturally Aspirated - M-6007-A46NA (http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField= 9871) - Essentially the same as the SC LB but with 10:1 compression

Buy a Ford product. On some you can get a warranty. The quality control is excellent.
I have seen custom motor after custom motor fail. Some due to incompetence and some because you are the R & D on some aftermarket component. If they build it just like Ford who would buy it from them? They keep putting in untested and unproven parts. Even when they come from a top mfg you are the R & D. When their $200 part fails causing thousands in damages they only replace the $200 part.
With a Ford product you are rarely the R & D.

I hear ya! I can can get either N/A or S/C, but just to let you know there is a 5 week back order on all 4.6L engines according to FRPP.
