Has anyone had their blower just stop blowing while you had the A/C on, then come back on but go off again a few days later? It happened to me last week. My blower stopped blowing, but came back on shortly after. But yesterday it stopped blowing again and hasn't come back on. I changed the BMR months ago and that was the prob. So should I be replacing it again this soon??

All is fine now. Put a new BMR in and now I'm back in business, cold A/C again. After a bit of knuckle scraping and twisting I got it in. Ford gave me a brand new one no charge in place of the old one cause apparently there is an issue with these BMR's so it was still under warranty.

You mean the BCM.....

All the BCM's have a bad solder job just like the EATC and LCM issues. Unless you fix the problems... bad solder, crappy relay, poor o-ring material you'll experience the problems again.

What is BCM ?Yes, please explain, I've developed the same problem within the last month.

the hvac blower speed controller module is a circuit board with a darlington power transistor, a relay and some other support components on it that limits current flowing through the hvac blower motor to give you various fan speeds. with this module removed, the blower motor would not spin at all. with this module bypassed, your blower motor would always spin on the high speed. to have speeds in between off & high, you need a functional blower speed controller.

below are some pictures of the circuit board inside this module. you might also try looking at my eatc swap page for some background info about how the climate control system works in these cars:

some of the bcm's do indeed have bad solder joints. but these cars are older now, and some of the blower speed controller failures are caused by something internal to the power transistor too.

2vmodular,
Thank you for explaining the crux of the problem, w/pics, to those of us who have not dealt with this yet.

My bad..I call it the BMR cause its a blower motor resistor. Like I said previously I had to change it about 6 months ago cause the fan stopped blowing. I knew exactly what it was this time cause the symptoms were exactly the same. When I turned the fan wheel I could hear a click but no air would blow. All the fuses and relays were fine so I knew what it was. But the only thing that had me kinda puzzled was it had went out so soon again. The guy at Ford said its a common part for our cars, meaning there is a problem with this specific part like someone said before. So he gave me a brand new one no charge cause it was a year warranty on it.
