I had my oil changed the first time at 3,016 miles.

The link to the PDF of the report is HERE (http://www.certifiedsystemdesign.com/Oil%20Report%203016mi.pdf). (Not anymore - sorry)

The comments read:
High wear and silicon are both common finds in new engines such as yours. The wear is high due to break-in of new parts, while silicon is from sealers and sand-casted parts. Potassium and sodium are factory leftovers and should wash out with future oil changes. Universal averages show typical wear metals for an oil from this type engine after 4500 miles use. We suspect your engine will look that good or better in two or three more oil changes. Insolubles were low at 0.2%, showing good oil filtration and complete combustion. Check back -- wear should drop.

Dave,
You do drive yours a lot!!!
Mine isn't even broken in yet to put it on the dyno -- maybe next Spring at Carlisle All Ford Nationals.
Just got first oil change done at 1632 miles and 4 months since I purchased it. Had the dealer do it.
BTW, did you change oil yourself? How did you get a 'sample' to send to the lab?

Gordon,

Yep. Drive it everyday, rain or shine.

When ever I can couple other work with an oil change I will run it up to the dealer. This time it was the SilverStars I wanted installed so I had the oil changed at the same time. (Vantage L/M, btw, see frdwrnch)

I used a lab mentioned by another member, Blackstone Labs (http://www.blackstone-labs.com/), and they will send you the sample container.

It's a small 4oz container that you put some of your used oil in and send it off to them. They email the results back to you.

I was just curious, not expecting there to be a problem. Expected the results to show a lot of "break-in" action and it did.

I'll probably keep doing it. Seems a small thing to make sure the ol' MM is running right.

Just received my oil sample kit from BlackStone and I'm sending them a sample after my 10,000 miles service at my Dealership, I have 9,550 miles now.

My Dealer does every other oil change, so I get an oil change every 2500 miles.

I'll send them an oil sample whem I do the oil change myself at 12,500 miles. Can't beat that. :D

It's nice to know my MM is getting enough calcium. I can sleep well now.

Your report looks very similar to the analysis of a kidney stone I recently had :bigcry:.

Anyway, Agent, I just ordered my kit and referenced you as the recommender (sp?). It is suprisingly affordable and probably worth doing every 3rd or 4th oil change, IMO.

What a great idea, thanks Agent. This is real cheap insurance, or assurance is probably a better term. I went to the site , browsed a little, and ordered my kit. Put yourself on the list of reasons why this is the BEST site on the web!!!

Well, since everyone seems to be jumping on this bandwagon, I received my Blackstone Labs kit in the mail a couple of weeks ago...just waiting for the 20,000 mile mark (1500 miles to go)...maybe Logan or LML can add a forum for us to post our UOAs in?

Thanks. Wish I could say it was my idea. I first encountered the idea here on MM.net though.
