One person said this a few years ago and now someone said this to me yesterday. "A Procharger is a belt driven turbo." No it's not. It is a blower end of story. "There are turbo chargers, superchargers and Prochargers. They are their own thing." No they are blowers. A turbo goes by exhaust and a supercharger goes by belt, this is driven by the belt and not the exhaust therefore it is a supercharger.
Does anyone else ever get this or I am the lucky one that attracts the idiots?
Or do I have it all wrong?

its a turbo ran by the fan belt.......

Well really a turbocharger is an exhaust driven supercharger, I imagine "turbo" was derived from turbine hence the original name "turbosupercharger"

Dom, your friend is half right. A turbocharger uses exhaust to drive a turbine wheel, which is on a common shaft with a compressor wheel. A centrifugal supercharger uses direct mechanical connection in place of the turbine wheel. Prochargers, Vortechs, and turbos are closely related.
Fun Facts to Know and Learn: Technically, none of the above are "blowers"...they are compressors in that compression of the intake air charge is performed internally, whereas with a Roots (Eaton) setup, the rotors simply "blow" air and the compression is performed in the intake manifold. In fact, the "blower" moniker came about because one of the first applications of this type of unit was as a blower for ventilating mine shafts.

Procharger is not "its own thing". It's like a Vortech or Paxton, a centrifugal supercharger.
The active element of these superchargers is the impeller, same as for a turbocharger.
Turbos and centrifugal superchargers are technically a centrifugal air pump and they create pressure (boost) by pumping air faster than the engine can consume it.
Positive displacement superchargers consist of Roots and Twin Screw designs. Both have two rotors. The roots blower moves air between the case and the rotors. The twin screw moves air between the two rotors. The roots is a positive displacement air pump which creates pressure like the centrifugals, by moving air faster than the engine can consume it. The twin screw is actually an air compressor, it compresses the air between the two screws.
Positive displacement superchargers move a specific volume of air per revolution. Centrifugal superchargers and turbos move a variable volume of air per revolution based on the amount of backpressure and the speed of the impeller.
edit: A couple of terminology corrections. (rotor/screw/impeller)
