My passenger side fog lamp has fallen out and is just hanging there. How are they attached. When I looked I thought I saw two screw holes but I couldn't find any that fit. The parts guy at the merc dealership says that they use pins but I don 't see any holes for them. If they use screws what size are they?

Two self tapping screws attach the top of the foglight housing to mounting bosses that are part of the bumper cover, and a plastic "rivet" attaches a bracket at the bottom of the foglight housing to the bottom of the bumper cover...If you remove the shields that are located between the bottom of the bumper cover and the front wheel wells, you can gain access to the back of the foglights. It helps to have the car on a lift to service the fogs.

There should be 3 self tapping screws that attach the foglight & housing to the bumper.

All he gave me were the plastic rivets. Do you know what size self taping screws I need?

They have some really aggressive threads. Don't know the size. Pull one out of the other side.

Has anyone had their bulb come out of the fog lamp housing? My sister told me my fog light was out and I have been driving without them for a month now and two nights ago I decided to go ahead and crawl under there to get the old one out and head down to my FLAPS. Well I go under there and the bulb was out of the fog light housing and just hanging out there on the plastic shield. I put it back in and it seated fine and still works!
Anyone else have this happen?

When I bought my replacement housing for one of my fogs a few years ago, the package came with the screws. No rivets. It was bought at the dealer.

Mine popped out and burned the "thread" for the bulb...:depress:

Mine went back in no problem. Just found it weird that it worked its way all the way out. Also found it amusing that the bulb didn't break boucing around!

Or melt a hole in your bumper.

With that, I always use my foglights and I noticed them on not too long before my sister told me it was out, so when she said it was out, I didn't put them on, so I don't think they had long enough to burn. I am always checking my lights to make sure all are working in the reflection of the car in front of me.
