My MM dealer is sending my black MM into the body shop to get the hood, door and trunk repainted.
I spoke to the bodyshop that is doing it and they told me that after the clearcoat they sand and buff.
I shared my concern about buffing/swirl marks and he said that generally they do not have problems and that swirl marks should not show up.
Anybody here have any experience - good or bad to share regarding this.
Thanks...

I had my hood repainted. When I picked it up it looked great. The body shop told me that it would get dull due to the summer heat and sun and would need to be re-buffed. He was right, about 4 months later I took it back and he re-buffed it. He also buffed out some swirl marks that were in other places that the selling dealer had created. Looks great. Obviously he knows what he's doing. The selling dealer's detail shop (probably not a "body" shop) obviously did not.

I would not think you would have a problem, the clears we were using were enamel and didn't need rubbing out unless it didn't come out just right .
I obviously just went through some major painting after my "mishap" coming back from Marauderville. It REALLY depends on the talent of the guy laying the paint. I was fortunate...the guy here in Atlanta at my dealer is a master. Why don't you ask to see some examples of recent work by the guy (preferably black). I also know some guys that got their Marauders repainted that look like it was done with a roller by one of the gay designers on "Trading Spaces".

Well I one know a guy that this happened to............. ME!!!!
The paint shop the dealer sent my Marauder to had a "top notch" reputation.(Yes I asked around and talked to people that had cars worked on their) Well they screwed my car up.
First they said "we are going to wet sand the top of the car and re-shoot the clear, one to two days tops!"
OK? Took 8 days!
When the dealer called me to pick up the car I looked at it and almost :bigcry: Does not match, looks cloudy? has spots in it and they missed the "C" pillars..... (did hood, roof, trunk) Also strached the &%$#*@ out of the sides:mad:
Dealer sent me back to talk to body shop to see if they could "buff" it out?? Bodyshop owner said "Well sir its black and black is hard to work with shows everthing"
Now after a calm discussion with the service manager they are calling in a Zone Rep. to look at the car..................
Stay tuned.
Any way Direct.. roll the dice and may you have better luck then me:alone:
I was wonderin when you were going to find this thread, Jim.

Does anyone know if the warranty, or dealer will cover burn marks that were put in from the body shop they originally sent the car to? My father got my car back in february, but I just had my first chance to really do a one over since he gave it to me (he gave me it in July), and I noticed buffer burn marks. Does anyone know if I will be stuck paying to fix them, and if so, how much would it cost?

I would guess that they are not going to do anything from Feb.

Well I was thinking about it?
Directedby did ask a fair question.
I did have a "bad" eperience :bigcry:
However the Dealer is now trying to "do the right thing"
Like you said it depends on the "talent of the guy laying the paint".
