6.0 GTO got something he wasn't expecting

Last night around 9:00 I was getting gas and saw a GTO going the same way I was about to go.. So I hurried up and got my gas and figured I would catch him at the light..Well sure enough he was going up rt29 just like me!!! We turned out on 29 and he immediatly pulled into the next lane...I was like, yes!!!! but he was scared at first, I was waiting on him to make the first move.. He didn't ..So we cruised up 29..Them got caught at a light...29 opened up more after all the constrution, the light turned green and I just cruised away..Then finally I see him coming up..So when we were side by side going about 30mph, I tapped the gas and he punched it..Then I did..And sure enough the black merc pulled on him by half a car at first then just kept pulling...I had to turn so we rode it out for a while then i turned off!!! I don't know what he had done other then exhaust..I wasn't sure what would happen but I found out:burnout:....eaton ftw!!!:banana2:

5.7L 350 hp
6.0L 400 hp

Keep in mind that GTO offers automatic and 6 speed manual. Those ratings are not from the rear wheel. Most blown Marauder are over 400 to the rear. Have fun and stay safe.

You're right. There is a replacement for displacement called power to weight. It was out before there were displacement options. ;)

the way i look at it, all GM boys throw cams in there cars, ours do nothing so our cam turns into blower so you have to give and take. i know acouple chevy and gtos that move.

my good friend had a 06 gto with a 6 speed his best time was 13.3 and all he had done was mufflers and a cold air kit. so force induction is the only way we could make it kinda even. or in my case a 100 shot and i waved bye bye to him.

I like the simplicity and brute torque of the 6.0 GTO/G8 cars.
To be realistic, for a lonnnng time it has been cheaper to mod and make a GM go faster than it is to mod and make a Ford go faster.

(.....except for that little '5.0' Mustang that came out in 1979....:D

The 6.0L in stock form does sub 5 sec 0-60 (4.7 secs) and turns the quarter mile in 13.0 flat in both manual and automatic. Curb weight is about 3750 lbs. so both cars with fluids and driver is probably around a 500 lb difference.

I have some friends that own 6.0L GTOs and they respond very well to mods especially tuning and cam.

Yesterday I had a kid in a modern GTO try and take me in the T. Granted I was moving along slowly(30ish) and he started from a dead stop but when I heard him open it up to get to the merge before me I thought not today punk. If he had another 1/4 mile he might have gotten me. I would consider it a fair drag as he might have more power than me and my truck's got an extra 1500 hundred pounds on him.
