I had a dentbuster guy come to my house this morning to dent bust my car. He spent about 1 1/2 hours taking out 4 dings. Cost me $200. I should get into that business!
He said he couldn't get the ding out of the front fender because it is double wall construction, typical of cop cars. Has anyone ever heard of this or is it BS?

They are only capable of taking out dents that can be accessed from behind. I would say that he would have jumped on it for that kind of money.

I could go pull one off the shelf tomorrow and check, but it would be the first fender I've seen that was double wall.

these cars do indeed have double wall front fenders. it makes for really sturdy construction.
one problem with this design is that debris builds up in between the two layers of metal. then water can't drain out, and you get rust perforation near the fender lip.

I picked up a dent in my fender about 3" across. I was told the same thing about the double wall. The dent guy got it about 98% from the outside. He spent 1 1/2 hours on the one dent. $150.00.

Had one removed from my hood...cost me $100 but was worth it as you can barely tell where it was.

Hmmm, was going to swing by a local body shop to have them look at a soft dent in the left front fender and a new door ding on the right rear passenger door (real high on the beltline too....have no idea what a-hole I parked next to....)....
Will have to keep some of this in mind and check my expectations....was just looking to treat my car to some paintless dent repair but now maybe notsomuch....
OP: thanks for the thread!
Best,
Jonathan

I'm thinking maybe a suction cup will fix mine. It's more of a 2", bowl shaped indentation than a "ding".

here are the ford oem service part numbers for the 2003-2004 mercury marauder fenders:
7W7Z-16005-A Right (Passenger's side)
7W7Z-16006-A Left (Driver's side)
if you live in the northeast or midwest where chloride road salts are used during the winter and you plan on keeping your marauder for a long time, don't spend a lot of money trying to fix up you dented fender. instead replace it, because there is rust hiding near the fender lip in between the inner & outer sheetmetal layers.
