BAD MERC

Being the 12 volt guru that I am, Carfixer hooked me up with a guy with a suspected bad LCM in a 1998 Lincoln Town Car which had a clicking sound as loud as, but not as steady as a turn signal. It clicked anytime the car was running and stopped when the brake was applied. All the lights, blinkers and hazards worked. The clicking was driving him nuts. I checked all the grounds in the kick panels looking for corroded or broken connections. I took the LCM out and was going to replace the offending relay but after some testing realized that the relay was doing what it was supposed to do - and was getting the errant signal outboard of the LCM. The fault was in the turn signal combination switch. So, if this is ever a problem you know what to replace first and save a LOT of money. Thanks to Claude for sending him my way - another happy customer!
