My fuel gauge is no longer working, it is on full but I ran the tank dry (coasted into gas station). Removed sender and eliminated it as a suspect.
Anybody ever have a gauge go bad?
how did you eliminate the sender?

Apparently not smart enough to fix the car:P. It's very common for the sender to go bad. It's a potentiometer that can be checked with an ohm meter, should change smoothly with no flat spots throughout the floats range. If good ohm the wires front to back. It's very uncommon for the instrument cluster to go bad if you have access to a good scan tool you can command the fuel level gauge up and down. In 7yrs at a Lincoln and Mercury dealer I've never replaced an instrument cluster for this problem. Good luck with the repair post your findings once you figure it out

I just replaced the sender with a brand new Ford part out of the box and nothing really changed.
I don't remember seeing anything in my OTC Genisys scanner for sweeping my gauges but I will have to look again.
I agree, that I have never seen a fuel gauge go bad in this type of car. I will put it back on the lift this week and keep you posted.
