View Full Version : Rear Caliper Seal kit

Anyone know where I can find the seal kit for the rear calipers? I have looked online and I can find it for the Crown Vic but not the Marauder.

The measured piston bore I have is 1.888". What I see listed for the Vic say 1 7/8"= 1.875" so it looks as the bore diameter isn't the same.

I thought all of the 03 up panther calipers were the same (limo excluded) but Ford says our rears have no serviceable parts but sells parts for the Vic? :confused:

Think any of the Ford parts experts could help me out here? Any part numbers would be great.

No problem. I actually picked up loaded rebuilt calipers on ebay a few days later for $32 ea. Not going to use the pads that came w/them but it was to good of deal to pass up. If I wasn't wanting big brakes in the next few years I would have bought both sets they had available.

I actually just dropped the calipers and brackets off at the powder coaters this morning. Trying a new shop in my town called Brothers Powder Coating. It will be right around $200 for all 4 calipers, rotors, and the 2 front brackets. The calipers and rotors will be done in silver and the brackets will match my cam covers.

I think I may have this figured out if I can't find a rebuild kit with the right diameter seals for the rear calipers. I'll use a piston seal from the front caliper kit and a piston boot from the Crown Vic rear kit.

The piston has a smaller diameter at the top of it. This measures out to 1 7/8" but the main body that rides on the piston measures 1.888" or 48mm same as the front caliper pistons.

I just need to measure the OD of the Vic boot seal and make sure it is the same as the boot seals I pulled from the MM calipers.

This is strange that the cars share the P/N for calipers but the caliper pistons appear to be different. I think the 1 7/8" Vic rebuild kit is for the calipers with the phenolic material pistons. Only thing I can think of????
