I dropped off my rotors w/my calipers to have the hubs and OD edges powder coated silver. They wanted to know if I was going to turn them after I got them coated. I hadn't planned on it but they said it would give the coating a better knife cut edge than taping if they could coat the entire rotor's surface.

I'm guessing I could get them turned if it was only shaving a off a few thousandths of powder coating.

I'm just wondering if a shop would want to cut on cryo-treated slotted rotors with their brake lathe? I don't need them to actually cut the metal just the PC on the pad surface area so I would assume it won't hurt the lathe right?

I have heard of shops not wanting to do it before so I wanted to ask here since my normal garage is already closed for the weekend.

Seems like PC guys are allways trying to get out of tapeing stuff off and the rotor surface would probably be hard to do. You could offer to tape it yourself that way it's done right.

They also want to leave the color in the slots. They say it will be easier to clean the slots, and will be a nice accent to the other powder coating.
