I haven't done any planning yet, but I figured I'd start getting rolling on Panthers On The Prowl for 2010.
The weekend will be August 6th-8th.
All are invited!
I have a very strong feeling this year's turnout will be smaller than years past, which is fine. Whoever can/wants to show up, feel free! If you can't, no big deal.
Here's what I'm thinking...
1. Drag Racing: Thompson Raceway Park has "regular racing" on Saturday the 7th, which is a precursor to their "Ford Vs. Chevy" showcase on Sunday. I don't know what time it will be, but I have an email in to them. Dragway 42's schedule doesn't really look that great as far as accomodating us (unless we do Friday night), plus Thompson is closer to a lot of the attendees than D42 is.
2. Cruise-in: The best weekend cruise in the area is generally Annabelle's Diner, Saturday nights. It's a 50's-style diner with a live band, diner food, and hot rods. The parking lot usually goes to the classics, and we end up taking over the front yard (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v440/ViperStrykerTTRS/Crown%20Vic%20meets/POTP****up051.jpg), which faces the street and is the first thing people see when approaching. If Sunday comes into play, we can hit up Quaker Steak & Lube out on the west side.
3. Miscellaneous possibilities:
---Bonfire/beers/BBQ (?) at my dad's (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/straightonchaser/jerrypotp/CIMG5712-1.jpg). Plenty of parking, great backyard. (picture doesn't do it justice) If this is something you guys are into, I will supply pop and beer (aka Pabst Blue Ribbon). Food will be done on the fly, because I ain't buying a bunch of food if nobody's gonna eat it!
---Retake of the Squire's Castle (http://i434.photobucket.com/albums/qq61/pantherp71/IMG_0329.jpg) picture.
---Cleveland touristy crap, but what's the point? http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif
What else do y'all wanna do? Let me know, and I'll try to make it happen.
Methinks the bulk of activities will fall on Saturday the 7th, which means folks won't have to worry about lodging or anything. Those who wish to stay may be able to crash at area residents' houses, depending on what we decide we want to do. Last year, we arranged for cheap(er) rooms at the local Red Roof Inn and they were grossly underutilized, and therefore not worth the time for this year.
Anyway...I may be presumptious or hopeful in doing so, but I'll start a list now.
