I haven't done any planning yet, but I figured I'd start getting rolling on Panthers On The Prowl for 2010.

The weekend will be August 6th-8th.

All are invited!

I have a very strong feeling this year's turnout will be smaller than years past, which is fine. Whoever can/wants to show up, feel free! If you can't, no big deal.

Here's what I'm thinking...
1. Drag Racing: Thompson Raceway Park has "regular racing" on Saturday the 7th, which is a precursor to their "Ford Vs. Chevy" showcase on Sunday. I don't know what time it will be, but I have an email in to them. Dragway 42's schedule doesn't really look that great as far as accomodating us (unless we do Friday night), plus Thompson is closer to a lot of the attendees than D42 is.

2. Cruise-in: The best weekend cruise in the area is generally Annabelle's Diner, Saturday nights. It's a 50's-style diner with a live band, diner food, and hot rods. The parking lot usually goes to the classics, and we end up taking over the front yard (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v440/ViperStrykerTTRS/Crown%20Vic%20meets/POTP****up051.jpg), which faces the street and is the first thing people see when approaching. If Sunday comes into play, we can hit up Quaker Steak & Lube out on the west side.

3. Miscellaneous possibilities:
---Bonfire/beers/BBQ (?) at my dad's (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/straightonchaser/jerrypotp/CIMG5712-1.jpg). Plenty of parking, great backyard. (picture doesn't do it justice) If this is something you guys are into, I will supply pop and beer (aka Pabst Blue Ribbon). Food will be done on the fly, because I ain't buying a bunch of food if nobody's gonna eat it!
---Retake of the Squire's Castle (http://i434.photobucket.com/albums/qq61/pantherp71/IMG_0329.jpg) picture.
---Cleveland touristy crap, but what's the point? http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/default/smile.gif

What else do y'all wanna do? Let me know, and I'll try to make it happen.

Methinks the bulk of activities will fall on Saturday the 7th, which means folks won't have to worry about lodging or anything. Those who wish to stay may be able to crash at area residents' houses, depending on what we decide we want to do. Last year, we arranged for cheap(er) rooms at the local Red Roof Inn and they were grossly underutilized, and therefore not worth the time for this year.

Anyway...I may be presumptious or hopeful in doing so, but I'll start a list now.

Ah, crap. Well...looks like it might be a CVN-specific meet, as the Buckeye Marauder contingent is either busy or has moved (fellow Painesvillian trash and NightRider have moved south for good).

I'm unable to make it. I've got an obligation on the far far west side that day. Maybe next year.

Haha! Like I said...it's lonely being a Cleveland Marauderer this year! Maybe I'll catch you at QSL or Solon sometime.

I was just wondering about this event.

Glad to see some info posted.

Admittedly, I was more focused on going to/affording STAP this year, as well as a pay cut and some personal stuff I had to work on. But we had too much fun last year to not do it, so even thought it's only one day I think those who do show up will have fun!

I just met up with #8, and his driveway looks like a used P71 dealer. Everyone in the family has a Crown Vic, and they said they'd come out if available. They've seriously got 5 in the driveway, as well as 2-4 in storage/parts. Cool folks.

So by my count we're nearing 20 cars with a month to go! If anyone is on the fence about attending...it should be a pretty great time.

So there's not much tourist stuff to do in Cleveland and the surrounding area?

There is plenty to do in Cleveland, but as this is a one-day car meet I doubt there would be time for that. Between the test 'n' tune, the cruise-in, and the bonfire the day is pretty much full.

If anyone wanted to come early and/or stay late, I could suggest a week's worth of things to do in and around northeast Ohio/downtown Cleveland.

Sorry I thought Panthers on the Prowl was a Buckeyes regional weekend meet. My bad:o

Eh, it sort of is a regional meet...just not a big one like Marauderville. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, or something.

We tried to make it a 3-day large event last year with a lot of driving and many people said they would have preferred it whittled down to one day with just a couple focused things. Most of the input for the meet has been coming from CVN since that's where 95% of the attendees are coming from this year.

OK, I don't think there's but one person from this site going, but if anyone has any last minute plans to attend...

I scouted out a cool spot to meet and got the green light from one of the local cops, so we're golden. So here we go, this should give everyone a loose idea of where we'll be traveling and stuff like that.

Once again, this is all Saturday, August 7th.

DIRECTIONS TO THE MEETUP LOCATION (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=41.671886,-81.248274&daddr=OH-44+N+to:Unknown+road&geocode=%3BFWwNfAIdMiYo-w%3BFbhqfAIdJIUo-w&hl=en&mra=dme&mrcr=0&mrsp=0&sz=15&via=1&sll=41.670988,-81.246901&sspn=0.014682,0.042272&ie=UTF8&ll=41.686887,-81.230679&spn=0.058713,0.169086&t=h&z=13).
^Point "A" is the I90/OH44 interchange. I figured most of you would be taking I-90 in, so exit at 44 and go north, then follow those directions. Point "B" is known as South State Street but it is plotting it as an "unknown road". It is fully paved and labeled. There is a cul-de-sac at the end near a water tower. There's nothing else down there and nobody should give us any crap.

Plan on being there around 10:45, 11am?
Plus, this location is perfect, because it's right near Rt. 86, which we will need to get on to get to the dragstrip. 86 is a fun road :D

The rest of the directions:
MEETUP LOCATION to the DRAGSTRIP (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Unknown+road&daddr=8233+sidley+road,+thomps on+oh&geocode=FbhqfAIdJIUo-w%3BFW93ewIdX98r-ymt5L3An5wxiDF-w4aPXpVJsQ&hl=en&mra=ls&sll=41.689615,-81.23921&sspn=0.058711,0.169086&ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=41.671117,-81.141243&spn=0.117455,0.338173&z=12) (dragstrip from 11:30ish-4:30ish)
DRAGSTRIP to ANNABELLE'S DINER (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=8233+sidley+road,+thomps on+oh&daddr=41.68804,-81.209221+to:Annabelle%27s+Din er,+Mentor,+OH&geocode=FW93ewIdX98r-ymt5L3An5wxiDF-w4aPXpVJsQ%3B%3BFbwVfAIdogAn-yH-txZnpNSQNyl9AtD18aUxiDHzg5Co8J WcXA&hl=en&mra=dpe&mrcr=0&mrsp=1&sz=12&via=1&sll=41.686246,-81.192055&sspn=0.117428,0.338173&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=12) (I'd like to get to Annabelle's around 5:15pm so we can have the whole front lawn)
After Annabelle's, you guys can follow me to my dad's for a bonfire if you want. I am not posting his address here, though. He lives v-e-r-y close to Annabelle's.
