Either the motor or switch needs to be replaced.
This site is full of BS posts.
Take the door panel off, use your brain for a few minutes and figure out whats wrong.

BTW, the first and easiest is to check the contacts in the switch itself. Does the rear window switch work for that window? (Make sure the rear window lockout is off). If it does, but, the front drivers panel switch does not, it's likely just dirty contacts in the switch. Easy fix. The contacts can get carbon on them. Buff them and put a small ammount of dielectric grease on both points.
My driver's window acted up the last time that we were in Seymour, back in 2007. I fixed it with a swift slap of the hand to the door panel. Window has never acted up again. Now, my 99 F150 is another story, drivers door has acted up like that for the last two winters, as soon as the weather got nice, it has worked fine, even took the switch out and cleaned it. no luck.

Did this with my 1989 Town Car... Never had to buy a motor... Just had to hit it a couple times a month

I have found over the years that in very hot weather panther windows sometimes refuse to function. When cooled back off, they are fine. There have also been times a good whack with my hand to the door cured things. I have also had a good number of broken regulator mechanisms and dead window motors over the years. Ford does not seem to be very good with power windows. 2003 and 2004 MMs seem to be better than the 1997 and 2001 crown vics that I used to own.
