I think that in FL, they cost between $400-$600.

Pretty sure it varies by State.

Definitely varies by state, some have a flat fee (IL comes to mind) some base it on a percentage of the net value of the car (GA, CA, and AZ) has been my experience

SC tags are $20, but you've got to pay an annual property tax on the car to get the renewal sticker.

Varies by state.

In N.C. is $30.00 registration, $40.00 inspection (w/ tint) and personal property tax.

As mentioned above, the fees and costs vary by state. Suggest you check with your DMV. They should have a website for such matters.

In Virginia,

1. $10.00 Titling Fee upon purchase
2. 3% of vehicle sales price (or of NADA Trade-In Value if sales invoice is not available)
3. Registration fee for passenger vehicles $38.75 per year (< 4000 lbs), $43.75 per year (> 4000 lbs)

In addition to the above, Virginia allows Counties to assess a Personal Property Tax (PPT). My county has a $24.00 annual "sticker" fee and a $3.70 per $100 of Assessed Value personal property tax that is prorated based on the number of months that the car is in the county.

On a $13,000 Marauder, that Personal Property Tax would be $481.00 + $24.00 = $505.00. It decreases each year as the vehicle depreciates based on NADA Trade-In value.

Under Virginia Personal Property Relief, the state picks up about 60% of the $481 from income taxes. The owner pays the balance. This may seem like a good deal. However, this "Dreaded and Hated Personal Property Tax" was supposed to go away completely about 10 years ago under the law. Unfortunately, things changes and some taxes never really go away when the Gubmint has gotten used to having that money to spend. Eventually, this PPT will work its way back to 100% because the state share has been decreasing every year.

More than you wanted to know about Virginia registration; but I saw the opportunity to vent a little. :D
