Virginia requires an annual safety inspection on all vehicles. An emissions check is required every 2 years in Virginia. These inspections have been a breeze since I got the Marauder.

I usually wait until the last possible moment to get my inspection because I just hate waiting in line and the processing in general. Today was the last day on my inspection sticker and emissions was due also.

Took the Marauder to a local place here just after lunch and found that I was #2 in line. The MM was in the bay about 10 minutes later.

All the inspector/mechanics on duty started to ogle the MM from the time it entered the bay. When they popped the hood, the guy called the others over to look. The engine bay was still pretty clean from the Carlisle Show.

Needless to say, the inspection went very smoothly and I stood by to answer all the questions about the car. They commented on how well the car is kept.

I guess they get pretty tired of seeing beat-to-hell Honda Civics and Toyota Corollas and such and just really appreciate one that sees regular service and care. Junkers get the extra evil eye from the inspectors, I suspect.

I think many of us are familiar with that routine...One of the many reasons I love my car.

Every year?! Do they charge for it?

Absolutely, this year it was $44.00 for both the inspection and the emissions. The safety inspection (annual) is $16.00 and the emissions inspection (every 2 years) is $28.00. I just checked the invoice in the glove compartment.

Here in Texas it's once a year, but a number of areas don't have real emissions/tailpipe testing, and in general these areas are pretty darn lax about that sort of thing. That's at least one great thing about living in San Antonio I can count on. ;)

Actually, that's pretty cheap, yet still super annoying.
I know some states require vehicles past a certain age to be inspected. I seem to remember one case where it was stopped because it was being abused by the organizations that were doing it.

$20.00 in CT for the emisions test and now @ any autherized shop no safty test to deal with unless it is a salvage vehicle or a home made job like a roadster then they have a safty done by the registry.

Every 2 years when your regestration comes up for renual just got my letter saying it has to be done for August to renu the reg.
