Beat 700hp Vette 50-135

I was in Indiana pulling onto I-94 and just when I get on I am right next to a C5 with many upgrades. I notice the black wheels, lowered stance, exhaust tips, exhaust note and finally... a Supercharged badge. I looked at the driver and gave him a thumbs up, he smiled and did the same. I was thinking... :hmmm: this will be quite a challenge... what the heck! :burnout:

I was in the far right lane and he was in the far left, middle lane had a few cars in it. I give it WOT without reving it and it was on. To my surprise the Vette was visable in my drivers mirror up until 105mph. By the time I was at 130 I didn't see him in the mirror anymore, but didn't past me either. 135 hit and I was still pulling strong, but decided that was enough vibration for me. When I was slowing down from 135 we both passed a car at the same time. The car was between us in the middle lane.

Soon as I decided to slow down the Vette finally passed me. I knew it would have had me for lunch from 130+ and I had enough anyway. The guy must have gone up to 145 or so when he slowed down. He actually gave me the thumbs up out the window while slowing down from 145+! :eek:

I got up next to him and yelled "How much power do you have?" "700!" "Cool. I have around 550." The guy knodded his head. We were having this conversation at 70mph BTW. I gave it WOT again, but he didn't chase me this time. He later exited the next exit.

I didn't think I had a chance against a 700hp Corvette, but hey if you can drive you can win any race.

I had the A/C on the whole time, it was 85 outside, O/D was still on and Social Distortions Mommys Little Monster was playing on the radio.

I can't get enough of this car. It's my favorite car in the world.

It happened BTW. Call BS if you choose to, but remember you weren't there to say it didn't happen. :burnout:

my son-in law has a 92 lx florida police/ mustang ford.. he pulled original engine and installed ford racing crate motor. wow! also updated rear to 3.73 /locker etc. your right they are quick not much to them..to drive them fast anywhere keep both hands on that steering wheel.. best bang for the buck is a mustang.. 2011's are quick also.. rkvette

If it was a 700 hp Vette and the guy could do more than start the car, Dom would need way more than the hit. Then again, Dom's car has 140,000 miles so maybe it is like they say' "experience counts"?

Dude you have the weight advantage. I need space. Plus this was on the highway, not the 1320. We all know our Marauders are superior cars on the highway. We can dish it out for fun. I am all for it, but it'll have to be a rolling start and I get the hit. Do that and I am sure it'll be close to the same result as the Vette.

I think you're the one who's got the idea. I know the car. I don't mean to stroke my ego or anything, but I know it. Know how to get it going just right, know when too much is too much, when to slow down... that's why I've never crashed it. (black ice being an exception in winter 2004)

I'll probably lose, especially from a roll....as the Cobra will break 'em lose at 80 mph when I punch it. You've got the traction.
I'll be a sucker and race you from a roll and you get "the hit".
My twin 4 barrel Holleys like second gear though...that's when the secondaries open and it really starts to howl.
Kinda feels like someone threw a grenade behind you when they hit....So, yeah! From a roll is OK.

Highway race and you're on. Not for pink or anything, just for fun. Gambles ruin races and it's not from winning or losing, it's that everyone is talking for hours trying to get the race setup just enough to screw the other guy over. I just wanna have fun and get this as close ot fair as possible.

You do not need to reply to this if you don't want I just think you need to start looking @ everything you do with the car and decied to treat it a bit better or keep doing what your doing and deal with the problem as they come up.

If something is wrong fix it before you screw around with it again against another car or showing off.

If the car is doing okay then have fun if you want to show off.

Make a decision and stick to it is all I am saying and then maybe people will stop busting your balls.

The reason I didn't do the burnout contest wasn't in fear of breaking anything, it was in fear of not being able to repair it. I honestly don't care if something breaks, but by now I figured I'd have income. That's why I choose not to do it. I still did the whole shot, but of course that wasn't mentioned yet.

People will quit busting my balls when they see it, but I guess the only way to prove what I do is if i have a webcam in the car to alert people. That'lll shut the babys up, but as always they will find something else to complain about.

I don't see how this could ever be possible in an all-out run, unless he lied to you about his power or you started at a significantly higher speed, which doesn't really count as a race/win, especially if he was gaining on you. There's way too much against your story here to even make sense.

I agree with DOOM on this one, I'd say you raced a base C5 with Z06 and supercharged badges or whatever else. Hit or no hit a 700hp vette would beat your car like a drum. I could see you getting a marginal win over a base C5 from a roll getting the hit.

As far as if it was just a badge... I don't completely know. The guy said 700 and it had a badge, just because he said it doesn't mean it had it. The exhaust was very loud. This is really in the dark, but I think it was blown. He said it was. Even if it wasn't, he was the liar and not me, keep that in mind. He said 700 after he "lost" to 135, not before.
