Hello all,

Me and my Dad have been looking for a Marauder for a little while now and are hopefully picking one up this weekend.

It is a 04 DTR with 52,000 on it. The car is owned by an 83 year old that used it to go to Florida in the winter so it is mostly highway miles he said it is way to much car for him.

Is there any specific problems that we should look for before closing the deal?

I look forward to posting here and learning all there is to know. My name is Josh by the way.

I've seen a lot of stuff lately about A/C problems, so I'd definitely check on that.

also have there been any mod's on it? if so, that would effect what i look for as well.

Other than that, the car is a tank. Oh and make sure all the lights work, i know there ahve been some challenges with that as well.

.... he said it is way to much car for him.

This ^^^^ is an interesting statement. I find that the MM handles way smaller than its actual size. Looks like he may have bought a car that was way out of his league or that he really needs one of those 40 MPG on 87 octane mini-cars for those long trips to Florida. :dunno:

I'm at 234K miles and have no issues. Buy the car and enjoy it. Where in Connecticut are you? I'm in Misquamicut Beach, RI, and we have a pile of folks in the CT, RI, MA area.

The A/C still blows cold. We didn't check the lights but that shouldn't be to much of a problem if they are burned out or is there something special about them?

He got the car from his brother in law that got parkinsins disease and couldn't drive anymore. He probably did not pay much if anything at all for it. He said it is just to powerful for what he needs and he is getting a smaller car.

Hey guy Waterbury here!

There are some control moduals on the car that can have a problem over time as some members have posted about.

The blower control as well as the door controls for the HVAC system not wanting to blow where it should so check it out and make sure it changes between defrost to heat and so forth but again it is repairable and some good threads on how to do it yourself as well as a guy who sells rebuilt one's.

Auto headlight controls can screw up as well as the wipper control modual due to stuff building up around the wiper motor it's self.

The ride hight compressor can end up sitting in a pool of water sometimes and eventualy cause it to fail if you do not drill and extra hole in the box for it to drain under the air filter box.

Like any car over time things happen to deal with but on here is a good sorce of info on repairs and costs as well as guys who have spair repaired stuff for sale to fix you up.

There is a special set of alighnment specs to go by on here or you will wear front tires out faster than you will want.

The coolant dead ends @ the back of the heads and can cause a problem down the road but there is a mod that can repair that if your mechanicly inclined.

Just ask and people will help with any problems you come up with.

:welcome1: to the site and I hope the Marauder turns out to be everything you want and were looking for!

Welcome to the forums! If the old man only drove to FL with it and probably just to supermarkets etc.... the check the tires, belts and hoses for dry cracking at 7 years old if they're original tires need to go and belts and hoses can't be too far behind.

The tires were replaced with hankooks and have decent tread on them. The belts and hoses all looked good. According to the carfax it was regulary serviced. But none of that stuff is a major problem if it does need to be replaced.
