Beat a turbo neon...

My favorite part is the smack talk/excuses afterwards.

So I'm going down a four-lane road, and this SRT-4 neon comes up my way. Dunno if he had upped boost or any other mods, except I knew for sure he had an obnoxious exhaust setup. We get to a light where I'm in front in one lane, he's behind another car in the other lane. I roll up just enough to where he gets behind me, then I punch it and pull hard just to get him interested (around here, there's at least a few of these guys that I KNOW want a shot at me, anytime I cross paths with one, they rev at me, and when we were in traffic he was driving all anxious like he wanted to run.) So at this point since I had punched it and let off we had clear sailing. He catches up, run 1 commences: run all the way through my second gear and I pull on him the whole way. He lets off. We square up again, round 2: exact same situation, except he revs real hard like he misses a gear or something. Both times he seems to have "missed a gear".

Fun part:
He ends up pulling next to me in the turn lane at the next light while I'm gonna continue on. The light is red for a bit so he rolls down his window. He says to me "four-cylinder, bro". I say "yeh, turbo too, bro. :)" Then I say "tell you what, let me throw on a supercharger so we're both boosted, then it'll be 'fair'." He says "oh really? well tell you what I'll just put stage 3 parts on this and we'll go. You know how fast stage 3 is? **** runs 11.2 in the quarter. What do YOU run?" I say "iunno, never run it yet, but I'm really not that far from stock, so...." And the light turns green and I say "we'll see you around bud".


I love sore losers. :D Am I just too friendly of a guy on the streets about smack talk though?

I raced a souped up Camaro from 0-50 and we were neck and neck to that speed. I see him start to pull away after 50 and I shut it down because we were in a 35 zone in the city and he had a car in his lane coming up. He had no intention of letting me get by that car before him and he swerved over at the very last second. If I didn't shut it down, Lord knows what would have happened. I don't have a supercharger but I do have Magnaflows, a JLT and a Zack tune. I was really proud of my car's performance. I was surprised as hell.

man last weekend i raced this dude in his srt-4 caliber boosted like ****, me and him were neck and neck untill i shifted out of 1st and i watched him bangin gears 2-3rd. he left me after that but not bad for a stock MM

Yup, I used to own an srt-4, stock turbo with all the bolt ons, spiking 19psi dropping to 15psi, and I ran 12.9's all day in the fall. He probably did miss a gear because srt-4s have a real common 3rd gear synchros problem where it doesnt go in gear under WOT...its terrible...and no recalls. Neway I'm not a dodge guy or a fan of the looks so It was just a temporary toy...unlike my marauder lol! Ford/Lincoln/Mercury FTW! Nice hit!

Hemi guys are the worst. Commericals said they were fast and so did the salesman so when they get romped by a car twice the size and unboosted they "miss" the phantom 3rd gear or their stock intercooler is heat saturating. Any kill is a good kill but SRT/hemi kill is the best. Good hit bro

Maybe but we talking on the street the front drive won't go anywhere on the street. and who runs around on slicks, even on D/R he wouldn't be that fast either.

I run into the same fools around here Ya I run 11.7 at the track and then my MM pumps there A**, then they say your car must be a low 11 sec car then I say Ya ok!!!!!!!!!!! WHATEVER.

I don't know what it is about those SRT-4 Neon exhausts.
There are two modded SRT-4 Neons in my neighborhood and they both sound AWFUL!
They must be aftermarket systems....LOUD and HORRIBLE SOUNDING!
They are the worst sounding 4 cylinder cars I've ever heard...worse than a Fart Piped Honda...and you know how I feel about Hondas!

The odd thing is that I actually like the sound of the SRT4 neon more than most 4cyl engines. First for me is a tie between subaru and old VW boxer 4, then probably a flip flop in 2nd and 3rd between SRT4 and the Lancer Evo. The Honda and Toyota 4 cylinder engines sound pretty bad to me. Some of the Nissan motors sound nice to me if done right.

Bottom line to me, Dodge makes some ANGRY sounding motors.

There is a 60 yr old guy at work with a turbo Chevy Cobalt that always mouths off. First off it is an ugly car. He thinks it is the fastest car ever made. I think he paid over 20K for it. The wing on the back looks like something off a dirt track racer.
