Check the tranny fluid.
Is it at the right level (look in the owners manual for instructions on how to check)?
Is the tranny fluid red or brown and burnt smelling?
If it's brown & burnt smelling then you may be looking at a compete rebuild.

If the ATF level is low, it will overheat quickly, especially if driven at high speed in the temperatures you have over there. If the level is good, it's fairly inexpensive to try changing the fluid before spending huge money on a rebuild. I'd also put an auxiliary transmission cooler on any car that lives in that kind of heat.

Approx 29,000 miles. But later, I decided to drop the trans pan. Approx 30.000 miles. The magnet in the pan was completely covered with goo! Cleaned the goo and changed the filter too. I would recommend you drop the pan and clean the goo off so the magnet will work right and the 4 quarts of new trans fluid will re-vitalize the trans fluid still remaining. If the problem then still exists, I agree with overlord and would pump out all the the fluid as it could all be overheated. Overheated fluid smells different than new fluid as it smells burnt. I would service the transmission with new fluid, filter, and cleaned magnet before you pay for a costly rebuild. I would do it immediately and not ruin the transmission. You can do a search as another post of mine has the photos of the magnet in the trans pan. Jim
