Well as usual my MM has to be like everyone elses and when people have a certain problem i seem to get that problem about a week or 2 later...people have been talking about air ride problems...I was in Chesapeake,Va visiting my brother in law who spends way to much time in those to sand boxes across the pond and she went

Looks like the San Andreas fault...

It's amazing that a complex engine like the 4V can last for 250,000 miles, but a simple air pump croaks so soon. :shake:

Drill a few extra larger holes in the pan the compressor sits in to help drain out any water that gets in there.

going to see how much they will charge me for replacement.
Of course Ii will keep the original and try to fix it.
any problems driving with the bags deflated besides the most annoying ride ever?
I still need to get to work and cant have it done for a few days at least.

CoolMan, try banging on the compressor to see if you can get it to pump up the airbags at all, then shut off the air-ride switch in the trunk. Either that or borrow an air tank from a friend and try to inflate them manually. You really don't want to drive the car if the airbags are completely flat, unless you know the route is really smooth. Hit any major bumps and you can do damage.

Replacement compressors are available here (http://www.arnottindustries.com/part_FORD_Air_Suspension_Parts _yid1_pid9.html). DIY is an easy job with common hand tools. You'll WAY overpay if you have it done.

If you can get it to pump up the bags, then switch it off in the trunk, it will stay inflated as long as theres no leaks. I bought an arnott industries pump for 200 shipped. xcelent quality. 15min. install.

You guys have to get with the program!!! I gave up on the bags & compressor last year. The Marauder has a great stance with the HD coils .It handles great & I don't have to worry about ford cleaning my wallet. Some of you cry about the fact it's not original. Good for you.

quick question, how does that air line come out of the compresser? I dont want to yank on it and break it.

Compress the lock ring and pull out the air line.

Mine was cracked like that when I pulled to inspect it because of it being extra noisy. I disassembled it and cleaned it up as best I could and then re-attached that flange with some JB Weld. So far it has held for about 5-6 months and I plan on replacing the compressor this summer.

On a side note, the screws that attach the motor case to that aluminum casting sheared off at the heads, so I had to drill through and run a small nut, bolt, and washer to hold the assemblies together.

Mine got loud for a couple weeks of the cold weather, but is quieter now that it is "seasonable" out. Mine went at 55,000. I am now at 122,000, so am a little worried if it is going to crap in a 50k interval and I am overdue! haha

The compressor is located under the washer fluid tank, left front of the engine compartment.
