who did your tune and are you happy with its street manners?
i don't plan on drag racing my car but i SOO badly want to improve my 0-60 times for the street.
i've been tossing around the idea of what to do next, 4.10's or TC. i think i'm only going to do 1 of the 2. no plans for SCing in my future altho i badly want to, saving for a house is #1 priority at the moment.
so if you had to choose 1 of the 2 mods, which would you choose? (not for drag racing - just DD)
thanks

4.10s for the win, screw the stall

Definitely...
Do the 4.10's first.
You can do the stall later.
You will have to get a tune or the speedo will be off.

the high stall is honestly annoying as hell for a street car, makes your car feel slow as **** when your not WOT. kinda feels like a clutch slipping in an manual car.

I think that was just for you man lol
I never had that feeling and I had a 3500 stall with 3.55 gears for a LONG time lol. Once the tune was squared away it was all gravy.
But yeah I would go with gears first before the converter.
Glad you bought this question up cuz I was thinking the same thing. 4.10s it is

I have a 3,500 and have no idea what this "sluggish" feel is that is being referred to. But then again, I have 4.10's and a Vortech, but I feel no difference in street manners, just snappier starts.

Which make/model stall and what tune determine the response. I have had a high stall for 110,000 miles and I can assure you w/ 1.69 60' it ain't slow or sluggish!

3500 stall is my favorite mod of all time. It's just fine on the street, I don't know what everyone is talking about. There is more difference with the TC than the gears. Go for it and don't think twice about it.

I have a 3500 triple disk. As far as the street manners are concerned it's all in the tune. I had the same issues as Dave with it being sluggish unless I punched it but after more than a couple changes to the shift schedule it is much improved. A high stall TC just takes a good tuner who is willing to tweak it a few times to get it right.
4.10s are practically plug and play from a tune standpoint and will make a huge difference on a fairly stock MM. Try them first and decide if you want a TC later. If possible take a ride in a car with a high stall tc and see how you like it's street manners.

I agree...that was my first impression after installing my Art Carr high stall.

My high stall is a blast at WOT and when racing at the track (1.79 60' N/A)...
but at part throttle driving around in traffic it feels sluggish and slow.

I've had mine tuned twice, but the stall's behavior is the same....sluggish at part throttle.
Maybe I should look for another tuner who knows how to work a good high stall transmission tune....:hmmm:

1/4 throttle and I smoke the tires. I wouldn't call that sluggish.

I am guessing it would be more like 1/3 throttle or 0.3333333

Joe you should try driving my car around one day, doesn't feel sluggish at all. Now when I had 3.55 gears up till about 2200rpms it felt a little slow under light throttle.
Joe I'm hoping to be around that 60ft with the cheaters lol.

Your'e not a moron, you just happen to have been 13 when the Marauder came out.
As I and others have stated the tune and brand/model TC make a difference.
Who made your TC?

I had a 3100 with 4:10's & it felt the same as stock on the street but at the track my 60' lowered. I'am now changing over to a 3500 TD :)

sorry, got a little flustered.
from what i was told it started as a PI and was rebuilt by circle d then never installed. ill have to ask my tuner about it, i always just thought it was nature of the beast and never mentioned anything to him about it.

I can relate to the tunning on the t/c. I have two street tunes from different tuners, one sluggish and the other one not, but the sluggish one gets better mpg on the hwy and the other one is the opposite.

On the sluggish one does the converter stay locked a lot more than the other tune?
