Hey all, I just picked up my 2nd Marauder and very happy with it. The previous owner said the car had a Jet chip. I looked into this and I believe it should be plugged in before the ECM?

What Id like to ask is if this is in fact where it would go and also where the ECM is on our cars? I read that its up by the master cylinder but I cant really be sure of what Im looking at.

Thanks in advance.

Don

The module itself is on the inside of the firewall. You'll have to take the black plastic cover off the underside of your dashboard by the gas and brake pedals to see it. If memory serves, it's held on by 4 push-in clips, that you can use a set of needle-nose pliers to remove (gently by rocking back and forth) from behind the black cover. Once the cover's off, look for a large grey/silver-colored box directly behind the emergency brake pedal - that's the ECU.

On the outside (engine side) of the firewall, you'll find the wire harness that plugs into the ECU, right by the master cylinder as you said. The ECU actually goes through the firewall, with the plug part of the ECU on the engine side, and the remainder of the module on the inside under the dashboard.

Thanks Joe - I had a look and removed the engine side plug. There is no Jet Chip there, I wonder does it install on the ECM first, then poke thru the firewall? Where else would it install?

Look up under the dash near the steering wheel. You'll see the other side of the PCM...is a rectangular silver box. There's a small "breakaway" door in the housing that you remove to install the chip on a connector that's part of the main circuit board. You should be able to see if there's a chip without removing the PCM.

Interesting! - I went to Jet's site and they talk about how their products work and that since Ford's ECU's have no port(?)to add a chip - Their Ford product supposedly installs in front of the ECU (Harness-Jetchip-ECU). So I looked on the engine side and there's nothing but the connector to the ECU. Now im not sure that the male pin side view that i see when the harness was unplugged isnt the jetchip as I cant see enough of it. I will certainly look closer with a good light to see if there's something plugged into the ECM from under the dash.

Jet also makes a chip dealio that plugs into the trans harness. The previous owner didnt tell me which one he had on it. I emailed the dude I got it from, hopefully he can tell me where the *&%! this thing is.

Thanks all.
