ARGHHH! One day after picking up my baby the oil pressure guage light goes out... Any ideas on an easy fix? I don't want to give it to the dealer for a day.
Pull out the gauge cluster and check for bad ground/replace the bulb.
It will take no more than 5 minutes.

^^^what Zack said^^^
Or better yet, have a REAL gauge put in...who cares if you can't see a gauge that doesn't work anyway...

Does anyone have the Autometer part number for the real guage?

Can anyone give me a quick overview of how to remove the guage cluster without cracking any plastic?
Thanks

Pull down and slightly forward on both of the gauge pod "wings"...it uses those one-way alligator clips, so you have to pull firmly, but it DOES come out...you also have to move the shift lever to D to get the pod to clear...there are 3 connectors behind; they're all different, so you don't have to keep track of which one's which...

I can now understand why Ford did not put a real oil pressure gauge in our MMs or even the Cobras. I am familiar with cars running 20-25 psi at hot idle and not 12-15 psi. But, be aware that if you do not set your real AM oil pressure gauge pointer needle to "0" with the ignition switch on it will read +10 psi more then it actually is. Setting the needle as per VM's instructions is critical to getting an accurate oil pressure reading. It took me 6-8 tries to get it right.

Glenn:
My gauge reads below 0 when the key is off, but comes up to exactly 0 with the key on, and engine not running...
Where did you get this gauge calibration procedure you mention? The installation instructions that came with mine did not mention it, and I can't find anything on AM's web site...

Mine works exactly the same. You may have to calibrate when you use the existing guage face and have removed the needle. I do not think it is necessary when you replace the complete unit.

Yes, Bob is correct. The calibration procedure is only if you are replacing the MM gauge face. To do this one must remove the gauge needle, replace the AM face with the MM face and reinsert it onto the pivot point.

Ah. That's better...you didn't specify that at first, and got me all paranoid that my gauge was reading wrong... :nono:
Thanks for the clarification... :)
