X pipe sound ricy, H pipe is the way to go

I don't think I've ever heard of a crossover pipe for a V8 being categorized as "ricy" until now.

I agree w/bazzlebear...the X-pipe makes Phoebe sound kinda tinny. I'm seriously looking at having an H-pipe re-installed.

They do have a raspy sound especially when you let off the gas at like 70mph. Some of them sound like a popcorn popper

 Crap... Now I need to get some jiffy pop! So what would you recommend for my new X-pipe, 40's or 44's??

TAF's car was the only one I ever heard that had an X-Pipe and sounded good.....don't know what else they did to it but it was deep and had a good burble!!
Put the same X-Pipe on mine and it sounded "Zippy"...very "Ricer" to me.....went back to the H-Pipe and it sounds great!!:D
To me "H" is the only way to go!!:bows:

There is another choice and hardly anyone ever mentions it. Prochamber... It's a chamber that's divided with both a H and X sections and is muffled. At idle it sounds like an old school H pipe, when you go WOT from 50mph it sounds like an X completely no popping or raspiness...I LOVE mine!

I have a magnaflow muffled X pipe (straight through) and I get no pop or rasp at all.

Now is that "ricer" sound inside or outside of the car? I wonder if some extra shielding around the X part would help. Kinda like the cats heat shield.
Then again, maybe that "ricer" sound will allow me to neak up on ricerboi before I annihilate him! :D

Mufflers play a bit part in letting the rasp of the X out.

You have a dual in dual out muffler that is equalized with an X. The muffler is killing the raspiness in your setup.

The noise comes from both. Try to stay away from Flowmaster's. Go with something quieter.

Recommendation? :D Looking for that typical throaty "I've got something mean under the hood" sound.

I like what RRSuki is running IIRC Dynomax. Look for a good quality turbo muffler.

Not just Dynomax - but Dynomax Super turbos. That's what I recently installed.
