Just thought I would open a thread about good stories that resulted from this website. Would like to hear how people reached out to you and helped to save you time or money or just building a friendship.

Some of my stories.

Recently I was looking for tires and got a pm from Go2GuyFL with an idea. Though I was unable to take his gracious offer due to not having the funds, he reached out and offered me a great deal. Eventhought the deal was gracious, money is tight and I couldn't do it.

Also, I had asked "Thathotrodlincln" if he lived near Grave Digger's (the monster truck) shop and he said he lived fairly close and I said that was awesome and he took it upon himself to drive to the shop and take some pictures and e-mail them to me! That was an awesome gesture!

Dave made those killer dash plaques with the run numbers for our cars and anything we wanted to have engraved on it and they look mint!

Though this deal fell through I think it was a good gesture and worth mentioning. "Musclemerc" had sent me brake line and I asked for just the fronts and paid a fair price for just the fronts and in actuality he sent me both the fronts and the rears, which was a great gesture.

So this site has definitely helped me and I have benefited greatly from it. Now lets hear your stories!

This one time, at Marauder camp, I stuck a resonator delete tip up my...oh wait you said heart warming not fart warming.

I would have to say for me it was the first "gathering" I attended. It was a CAM meet. It was great, the dinner at the German restaurant was the kicker. Got to sit down and talk to people like Brian (silversurfer) and Nat, Charlie (bluerauder), Gordon and Chris (haggis and ladyhawke), Merc and Mrs. Merc, and a few others whose names escape me. I hoped when I left that evening I would see everyone again. What I hate is only "knowing" someone because they crashed thier car and I bought parts from them. If I were mega rich I'd like to meet EVERYONE I've met on here or bought parts from face to face. Some of those people have a great outlook on life, some have a twisted sense of humor, some rarely post. I hope to meet some of them in Charlotte, NC.

Oh yeah! I forgot to mention the meet I went to with some New England Marauderers! Had a meet in Hyde Park MA and got to meet Sean (sd8683), Mike (kb-marauder-s), Paul T Casey, hot-rauder, Mike/Rob (Go Mifuni), and Thunderbolt. We had a great cookout and then we headed to Riley's Roast Beef for a car show. It was a great time and met some great people. Also saw Mike (kb-marauder-s) at the Summer Nationals a couple weeks ago. Good to see him.

Also, I had seen a marauder in my neighborhood. Made the connection on here that is was in fact Fesifisky and finally stopped in to a Honey Farms that he was at and got to talk with him for a bit!

Good people on here!

Several years ago (2004), my youngest son just HAD to drive about 600 miles to Georgia to see a girl. Despite my best efforts to talk him out of the trip, he took off for his first major trip. I think he was 18-19 years old and he had a 2001 V6 Cougar at the time. About 25 miles from his destination (and late at night), I got a call from him saying that his car had broken down and that the transmission was overheating and not shifting properly. I think that he said that the Exclamation Point (!) light on the dash was lit.

I was at a loss for what to do at that time of the day and so far from home. Desperate for assistance, I posted up to the MM.Net to see if there was anyone in the area who could provide assistance.

Within 10 minutes, MENINBLK posted up and informed me that his experience with the '01 Cougar transmission was that the overheating was quite common. He recommended that my son just let it cool down for about an hour and then limp it to his final destination. He also said that the transmission fluid change was probably way overdue since the Cougars needed a tranny flush about every 15K miles vice the 30K in the FORD book. I passed that info to my son and crossed my fingers that this would fix the problem.

My son took the car to a nearby dealer the next morning and had the transmission serviced and the fluids changed. The rest of the trip was uneventful and he was able to make it back home with no problem. He kept that car for several more years and maintained the 15K mile tranny service and never had another problem.

MENINBLK (Pete as I recall) really saved my bacon on that one. Thanks, Pete !!!

I had a member promise to mail me a Mechanics shirt once (well, actually several times). I thought that the thought was pretty heart warming. (see sig).

Update: It has been lovingly folded and gently placed into a box. Now I need to tape up that box, and then mail it. I should probably put your address on it, also. And postage.

I had just installed my Procharger and was going on a little beat run before the dyno tune, big no no! The car died instantly as I was going around the corner at half-throttle. I was able to roll into a near by parking lot but couldn't get it started again. Left it there and walked a mile home. I went on to MM.net and posted about my situation. Within a few hours LocalBoy had the answer. He suggested i blew an intercooler pipe off. I went back the next day and sure enough it was the pipe off of the blower. 5 min. later I was back on the road and into the garage untill the dyno tune. Thanks LocalBoy and all who helped me get my car to this point:beer:

For me, it was really just a few months ago that I finally "got it". It was this years Louisville meet. I went last year with JustBob and had a great time, but still wasn't very involved with the site. In March of this year, coming up on the second Louisville meet for me, I decided I should donate to the site for all that they do on this trip.

As such, I wanted to get my name out there again, so I started posting a little. Following thr trip I got addicted, but still just owned a Mustang.

Then my company was moving me to Georgia, a promotion I was eager to accept, but didn't know anyone. So I posted up about the move, and the Georgia team gave me a great welcome. I met a few at the first Coffee and Octance Show, and I even met my new Marauder.

Following the purchase of the Marauder I needed to have some Cats installedNot knowing a place that I trusted yet, I posted up. A member(who's privacy I will respect) referred me to a great shop that installed the Cats, and fixed a Rear def Leak I had.

This site truly is family, we laugh, we debate, we argue, and we poke fun of, but thats between us. If someone else were to pick on us, look out, you'll find the biggest posse you have ever seen. (I said posse Casey)

The names are too numerous to mention!!!!

Several mm.net members have driven to my house over the years to pick up used MM parts that were cluttering up our house. :-) Thank you to those that have done so! I am too lazy to ship stuff - especially tires and brake discs.

When I needed to sell one of our precious Marauders, this site helped me find it a loving home where it will be cared for and appreciated.

A bunch of Florida members have become permanent friends that will beat the crap out of me if I don't call them when I need them. They show up for the weddings and funerals of my life. That is where the real value of this site has been for me. Yesterday was our third anniversary - every year on our anniversary we remember how gracious our Marauder limo driver was.

This kind of stuff is heartwarming to me, maybe I am getting a bit sentimental in my old age. :)

No problem Blazen71....Glad it worked out for you!

I was fortunate enough to get help from Magindat (Rich), when I was installing my ProCharger, and just wanted to pass on a good deed to others as well...

Thanks Rich!

Also, Thanks to John (Toomanyfords) who is helping me with my Bronco...Cheers!

I must not forget the numerous amounts of good hearted people who contributed to my requests for help...

Thanks everyone!....including this site! You guys and gals...ROCK!

Another great MM.net story!

I needed brakes, rotors, and OEM lines and thank to the advice on here, I bought new rotors, fastblackmerc hooked me up with OEM front brake lines, and Black-Out hooked me up with slightly used front pads. Fastblackmerc and Black-Out were great to deal with and Jim (FBM) even gave me detailed instructions on how to swap out the brake lines. Jim and Justbob both offered up their cell phone numbers in case I ran into any problems when installing the brake lines. I put the new lines, rotors, and pads in this weekend and I believe I have solved the issue with the hanging caliper on the driver's side! Awesome job guys and I can't thank you all enough! Not only are the guys on this site great for detailed instructions, but also for parts hook ups. The advice and parts I got on this site saved me big money in parts and labor and I appreciate it!

Shout outs to:
Fastblackmerc
Black-Out
Justbob

Also, those who commented on my rotor resurfacing thread!

Goes to show the true character of the guys on this site!

THANKS GUYS!

The meets are great. I have to mention all my Southern bretheren who all went way out of their way to help me and Georgann when I had my heart attack. The whole lot of them either spent numerous hours at the hospital, working on my car, or just saying prayers for me. Actually, now that I think about it, the whole site seemed to show a lot of support for me through the entire ordeal. Thanks to one and all. :D

When I found Ms. Jackson on the internet, the only thing I knew is it was in San Antonio and I was in Springfield, Missouri. Being desperate I messaged a few members on this forum, all who returned positive PMs back about helping me out. (MrBluGruv)Chris was the first one with a phone number to call, so I proceeded to call and talk a little about maybe helping me get to the car. That talk lasted about 5 minutes with an "Ok, lets do this" and then proceeded into a how to mod a marauder, how awesome they are, how many ricers get to see the tailights, ect ect ect. I arrived at San Antonio, he promptly meets me there and drives me to the car. We get my car and then I am introduced to burger heaven AKA Whataburger.

The guy not only puts up with me being super giddy and talking one million miles an hour about my new car, how awesome his car is, what I am going to do to my car, ect....but introduces me to a culinary orgasm.

I am forever in his debt.

I think the list of names would be endless in the help that I have recieved here. More than that would be friends, even friends that I haven't had a chance to meet one on one. It's weird, because there is so many good members on here that I feel like I have known for so many years and yet I haven't even had a chance to shake their hand in person. I search old threads and see all the names that have come and gone, all the friendships that still remain, and promissing future ahead. Even my wife Melanie loves what this site has done for me and what it has turned my car into. Thanks everyone.

i been apart of probably 5+ forums from my previous cars and current svtperformance.com....and i have to say this is by far the nicest family oriented environment and best forums to be a part of...friendly, close... I met alot of people here that are now close friends.i think because of how rare the marauder is and it doesnt have like 1 million members and its much smaller. just like a small town in north carolina where everyone knows each other instead of new york city where everyone is strangers

Thank you, I say go for it! If you don't have a trunk lip spoiler I suggest getting one also since it adds to the look with the mach 1 chin spoiler and hood. I would get one for mine but I'll wait until I all the body work (fix the small dings/dents and paint chips).

I really dont have just one story. It has been the whole experience of owning a Marauder, finding this web site. Meeting lots of local people who share the same passion for such a cool car. And going to Louisville this year and meeting people from all over who share the same passion for such a cool car!!

And I do appreciate Justbob giving a big help in changing out the rear differential clutch's right before the Louisville meet!! Thanks Bob!!

Well, I hooked up with the Southern Marauders back in November last year. Right off the bat they welcomed me right in. We meet up once a month so doing the math I have met up with them right at 7 times. Missing May and July. Well back in June I lost my grandmother who I was very close to. I had mentioned it to GaMike and he posted up out here she had past away. The support this site gave was great. Thoughts and prayers go a long way. On top of that Mike decided to take time from his NEW job and drive about 2 hours north to come to the funeral. :bows: It's been great getting to know the Southern Marauders along with others out here. My hat's off to all of you! :2thumbs:

Wanted to give a special thanks to Aaron "Rocknthehawk" for GIVING me a queen size bed frame. I am moving in to a new place this weekend and have just been sleeping on a queen size mattress on the floor. I mentioned on facebook that I was looking for a bed frame and he said he had one that I could have for free. Well I went and got it yesterday and am VERY happy to have a frame! Money is tight, so I am trying not to spend too much on stuff. I just need a box spring now and I will have a full furnished apartment!

Thanks for the hook up Aaron! Got to love the mm.net family.

I remember the good 'ole days when members would donate $$$ to help other members with a blown engine!

Yep, pretty wild to think about that!
What other website would that happen on?

Of course, as the HP levels rose, the number of catastrophic engine failures mushroomed and that practice stopped fairly quickly.

I bought a transmission and 3500 stall converter from John (TooManyFords).
It's the orginial transmission from the ProRauder. I feel privilaged.
Anyways, I was TDY in Cali and talked with John about buying his set up. I was going to stop by his place on the way to NY to pick it up.
He let me stay at his house for the evening, take a shower, and even had chili. Awesome. And i had never meet John in person before.
This is what I'm talking about. Hospitality.
Thanks.

Another great story!

Blackened300a saw a thread I had posted looking for one or two COP's. He sent me two COP's for a great price and said he would throw in some boots for the COP's as well. I received the package a day late due to having to sign because of weather. IT was a speedy transaction with speedy shipping and I couldn't be happier! These items look brand new for being fairly used. Paul not only sent me two COP's, but four boots as well! I have dealt with Paul before and both transactions were quick and streamline. Not only did he send these items, but we went back and forth quite a few times through PM as Paul tried to troubleshoot my issue. He could have just sent the items and that's it, but he took the time to give me advice and I appreciate everything he did for me!

Thanks buddy!

Wow, you guys had a meet in Hyde Park?
Where did you guys meet up?

Next time that happens, can someone let me know?
Sean is a wicked cool guy, met him a couple times, really great person.
I went to St. Anne's School and church, very familiar with the area. Did that house around the corner from the Como Rd. bakery blow up while you guys were there(happened recently)? I was there the day before, I guess it blew the windows out in the school.....

It was a couple years ago. We got 7 marauders together and met up at KB-Marauder-S's (Mike) house for a cookout and then we cruised over to Riley's Roast Beef for a cruise night. It was a good time. Haven't done a meet since though. I think one is overdue, but my car is disgusting.
